Nice food and good beer
By chance we found this restaurant where we had a good meal, good beer and good and quick service. They have more types of beer, fish or meat and the restaurant is opened all the day. I can recommend it if you are hungry and do not have much time.

The place is not fancy at all but the food makes it a 5* option when you visit Sines. If you come by boat like me, it is quite close to the harbor and it's easy to find.It seems that in summer times it has always queues but if you wait 30 minutes they find you a table...The seafood is great, like the fish...The barnacles are very fresh and taste to the ocean! The fish is also very good...At the end, the bill is quite reasonable for a seafood/fish dinner.

Through advice from friends we visited this newly opened restaurant in Sines. It is small and cozy with a true Portuguese atmosphere. The menu is compact but offers choices for meat and fish. I ordered one of there specialties the Fish Skewer, see picture. In one word, Delicious! They were accompanied with there home made potato chips, excellent. Service was great and efficient although it was very busy that night.

Arte e Sal is a well-deserved restaurant that enjoys the happy combination of an experienced kitchen, a privileged environment and a level of service that only an experienced host knows how to provide. But it is mainly the excellent fish of the coast that
The restaurant we wanted to go was full so we came to this one. The clams were good and so was the "Massada de peixe" (a kind of soup with pasta and fish), our friends had sardines and also enjoyed them. The service is a little bit slow, but kind and friendly.

Ok, so we took the scenic route along the coast which gave us nearly three hours from Luz in which to work up an appetite. My daughter and her husband had visited here in recent years and their recommendations are usually solid so it was worth the trek. The same chap that has been there forever was handing out menus and dispensing a welcome glass of chilled rosé. Just outside the front door is a way into the fresh fish counter where you can view and choose your main course. They will sell you some to take home if you wish. We shared some succulent local clams to start then a selection of grilled fish fresh from the slab - seabream, seabass and swordfish steak. With it came a steaming plate piled high with simply boiled vegetables, carrots, green and white cabbage and earthy potatoes. As authentic a meal as you could wish for and representative of the Alentejo cuisine of old.

There is no doubt that the fish served here is high quality however that is not enough to become a top restaurant! Service is poor: slow and not attentive.Reservations are not possible: the least the restaurant does, is to write down your name in a waiting list...The variety of fish depends on the availability of the fish in the fish market right in front - which is acceptable - however there is just one single way to cook it: grilled!Desserts are just regular. Considering everything - food, service, availability and location - the price is a slightly above average.

We had lunch here. It was fine, but nothing special. One waiter was friendly enough (didn't speak any English which is absolutely fine and in fact made it a more enjoyable authentic experience). The other waiter was not friendly. My husband had fish which was quite boney and my son had a tough steak. I had vegetarian spaghetti which was a huge portion and quite tasty.

Typical Portuguese charcoal based cuisine. Famous meals are the sirloin steak, the lamb cutlets and the black pork fillets. Kitchen closes at 22:30
Have gone here a few times and have never been disappointed. Fish and meat is of excellent quality and drinks likewise. Pieces are modest and absolutely fair. Go there. You wonât be disappointed. My highest recommendations.

We were in Sines for lunch and decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews. We were not disappointed. The food was very tasty and excellent value for money. This was the best meal we had in Portugal!
