Relatively new winery (2002) with fine restaurant showcasing the range of wines accompanying very good food. Diverse menu with snacks, full a la carte, and two fixed price menus including wine with each course. Tasting menu featured well cooked, well presented dishes. The service from each member of staff was highly attentive with interesting explanations/descriptions of both food and wine. Delightful surroundings. Excellent value for money.
I visited three times in all on recommendation from my host in Tavira. I had rump steak with the extra Brazilian trimmings,it was beautifully flavoured.Second night I had huge garlic prawns, not enough veg accompanied. I was hungry later on.Last meal I opted for the strip sirloin and asked med rare. The cut was very thick so it was really a rare. I had to work it with the knife, disappointing and tasteless. It arrived with a salad, chips onions and mushrooms would have been great.I didn't like their house red on the first night too asidic.
We decided to have lunch here today and tried the three dishes of the day they had on offer. Food arrived lukewarm, including steaks were not piping hot and the famous "Bitoque' pork steaks arrived in a puddle of liquid and looked pale. Soft drinks were of a non branded and not known brand including ice tea and coke. My husband's "Bife a casa" which was suppose to be a steak with chips in a prawn sauce came swimming in a strange looking sauce and the prawn tasted strange and when you cut their heads off they were bleeding. We were told that prawns are like this, I never saw this before. Anyway, we were offered to have food reheated in microwave and that's the reason why my cod had hot and cold patches. The bread tasted like cake and the marble cakes given for free also didn't look at all apetizing. Anyway, it all left us with a very strange taste and a bad feeling after spending 25 euros and leaving our plates full even though we were still hungry.

On our way to Lisbon after having visited the Alqueva dam, we were late for lunch. We tried Portel and found there this small restaurant for sure popular with locals.Although lunch time was behind us, the owner accepted to serve us.We chose a classic bacalhau preparation (à Brás).It was good and the quantity served for two was more than enough.Service is just average.Cheap pricing.

I was visiting the area for some wine tasting and this was the first place we went to, for lunch. The menu was absolutely amazing. You have a big variety of local dishes. I wanted to pick lot's of them :) Ended having Sopa de Cação that was simply amazing. My wife had a lovely salad and my kids a lovely kids menu.Besides the food and good wines, the place has an amazing cenário. You have a great view to Alqueva.

Nice place to eat, we were a group of 5 people and order Açorda de Cação typical recipe from the area, good portion for two, with bread, fish and boiled egg, and fish stock with coriander - delicious and well prepared! My friends had meat-carne de porco à alentejana and largartos (grilled pork) the recommended wine was delicious - red from the area! Not too expensive as we had shared all dishes.

If you're nearby and don't want some cosy but you value local food, you won't regret your stop. I had a lovely deer stew! Given it's outside the tourist circuits you're never find those prices anywhere. Recommended!

Very nice Place. Wide and with enough space. Similar to a saloon with a lot of big run tables where people can interact with others If they choose to. Food is very good and staff are very friendly and open. Haven eaten bacalhau and was very good. The price is cheap for everything that it included. 12,5⬠included starters + bacalhau + portion of meat ( which we didn't took) + dessert + coffee and 2 bottles of wine. Also has a lot of baby chairs so it is well prepared for families. Really enjoyed the place and staff. Fico a espera da sua próxima visita

The S Pedrorestaurant from the outside does not discriminate from manyother places in the Alentejo. The food however is of much higher quality than you get elsewehere. The restaurantserves typical Alentejana style food that has been prepared with detal for attention and taste. The various types of Migas for instance are delicious. The home made deserts are also not to be missed.

Old stable and haystack of an agricultural house of sec. XVIII restored, and transformed into a pleasant restaurant, which seeks to recover and spread the rich Alentejo gastronomy.
A little bit hard to find, but we made it. The food was wonderful, although the service was somewhat slow. Very good "sopa de cação" and "feijoada de porco preto". It was really wonderful. Also very good deserts like "Sericaia". Strongly recommended.
