We end up on this restaurant door at 9pm and it smelled good so we went for it.The regional cheese, olives, (1/2) chicken was nice, salad, fries, great (1/2L) red wine from the area, a very good dessert and 2 coffees. The price, a joke, 13â¬.And best of all, the waiter was really friendly and helpfull. The down side is the menu, there were like 3 options.

Relatively new winery (2002) with fine restaurant showcasing the range of wines accompanying very good food. Diverse menu with snacks, full a la carte, and two fixed price menus including wine with each course. Tasting menu featured well cooked, well presented dishes. The service from each member of staff was highly attentive with interesting explanations/descriptions of both food and wine. Delightful surroundings. Excellent value for money.
Each time I am in Portugal I am going to Cafe A Mo. This is a fantastic place with very friendly atmosphere!!! The food is the best I ever ate. Each time this restaurant and its owners Cidalia and Manuel suprise me with very tasteful food!

If you want a family experience and food like it tastes a hundred years ago with ingredients fresh from the land. This is the place. It's low key, unpretentious, simple and family owned and run. Don't expect fashion or fancy thing. Expect to be treated with love and to eat like you have never eaten before. I love this place

Alvito in Autumn is not overblessed with dining possibilities, and this looked like (and was) a cosy, welcoming place. The locals were dining there and it is clearly popular. But in common with other eateries, there is little idea of how to treat diners even in the smarter places, let alone the spit and sawdust ones. There was none of the cheese whose description in a previous review had helped entice me in. The vegetable caldo (clear broth) we ordered was forgotten, out came the main courses, and they were not so good when kept warm as we ate the soup! The wine list was good and we ordered a 2004 red which really needed decanting to remove the debris: this is a wine growing area and locals should know that. The main course was hearty and good, but not above the normal. The desert and coffee was fine, too. This may be a better option when it is busier in high season, but be prepared for hit and miss (even indifferent) service and gastronomic highs and lows. While acceptable, lots of other rustic places in Alentejo are way better.Hello Dave H, i apologise for not meeting your expectations, especially since you were such kind and educated customers has i recall. You are right about the service that particular evening, we,ll do our best to improve that situation, the low season is in fact an issue.About the wine though, i'm sure you will give me the benefit, that i advise you to choose a more recent wine, especially since that 2004 bottle was not a Reserve, you tasted the wine and said it was good, and when you asked for a second bottle of the same year, one would assume everything was fine.Thank you for your review and we hope you'll give us the chance of redeem ourselves on a future visit. All the best.

This was the best robalo (snook or some say sea bass) we've ever eaten. One serving was plenty for two. And at fifteen euros cash, it was a bargain. The vinho verde (green wine - an effervescent young white wine) - was every good.

This little restaurant (you do sit at tables and are served) was recommended by our town tour guide as having wonderful salads, and it didn't disappoint. As you face the church, it is around the corner on the right, down the stairs. Simple and friendly, there were clearly locals who go there regularly, but English was understood, and the menu explained. Takes credit cards, and is reasonably priced.

Restaurante O Casao is not a large place but cosy with a friendly atmosphere. The family owned place offers a nice range of local specialties, such as borrego or bacalhao spiritual. You cannot leave without sampling the home made deserts such as (when you are lucky) Molotov. The Mousse de chocolate is also great. A great choice when.you do.not want to spent more than â¬15 pp and yet want quality food.
