The pizza was very good. Thin and crispy. Fast and personal service. If you want a pizza this is the place. Did´t try other dishes on th meny.

We met Maria, a native of Nazare, who told us about this place so we went there our first night and were not disappointed. Wonderful food and atmosphere and very good prices. We had a fish soup and fried shrimp entree, followed by the grilled fish for 2 which came with salad and boiled potatoes. It was all excellent, washed down with a half litre of house red and a glass of white. Finished up with an almond cake, total €40, which is brilliant value. Still drooling at the memory of the fish. The only disappointment was we couldn't book again for the following night as the owner is having a well deserved night off.

During a recent holiday in Sao Martinho do Porto, we visited this restaurant a few times. The staff were always very friendly and atmosphere nice and relaxed. What sets this restaurant apart from anything I have experienced to date, is the absolutely fresh fish on offer.
The service was efficient and friendly. Wine, well chilled and an all-round great experience. Will certainly be back.

Restaurant overlooking the sea, with award-winning cuisine.
Three and a half stars overall, maybe a bit harsh but although everything was mostly fine here, it was a bit strange.
A nice location at the end of the harbour, a great view of the seafront, and friendly service. Decor not too posh, but really just what you'd expect, a nice local restaurant vibe. The Royal Marina fits in with its surroundings nicely. We went for a midweek lunch. The menu is short, and that's OK if as you'd expect it's dependent on the catch from the local fleet each day.
Nothing really too much to complain about food wise, but as I said it was a bit odd somehow. Dining companion had beef steak, I had a tuna steak (true vegetarians can forget it here). Both decently cooked, but both came with an eclectic selection of vegetables: cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and weirdest of all Brussels sprouts. I don't think I've ever had tuna with sprouts before - I cannot say it is an as yet undiscovered taste sensation. Didn't really work with the entrecôte either. On a classic British Sunday roast this would have all been perfect, but on a Portuguese seafront it didn't quite fit.
Its entirely possible we just visited at the wrong time, and made the wrong choices from the menu. But on our experience, food fine, location great, service good, but overall only average.

My wife and I came to Alcobaca to see the monastery, and after spending the morning walking we stopped here for lunch. The service was excellent, and our waitress did a great job of helping us select a traditional Portuguese lunch which we really enjoyed. Reasonably priced.

Usually, people waiting for tables is a good sign. Luckily, today it was. We only had to wait 10 minutes and as we were chatting to others it was fine. Prompt and friendly service. Good food and wine. No flourishes, just good food. A super lunch.

Had excellent lunch with family. A whole 4 pound sea bass... !! Beautiful. A must with family. Very friendly owners, treated us like home.

The tavern 8 o 80 is the second home of a family business with scrolls on Nazarene and national restoration, the first being the tavern D Adelia. With one foot in the sand, the sea on the horizon, the eye loses itself in a decor that transports us to the ancient taverns, but where the refinement and good taste are of a contemporary environment. Situated on the beach of Nazare, 8 Tavern Restaurant o 80 is the ideal space for a meal on the waterfront, a late afternoon or early evening in one of the most beautiful Beaches of the central region. Let yourself be enchanted by the traditions of this fishing village and enjoy the best wine list by the glass, in 2013 highlighted by "Revista de Vinhos", or if you prefer, a gin made to your liking and measure! Literally just got back from our delicious meal at Taverna do 8 o 80 served by the best waiter João and had to review this place. It came highly recommended by the locals and is an excuisite combination of traditional and modern food. Everything was brilliant and I couldn’t fault the restaurant. Service was impeccable and the recommendations by João were faultless. We tried the sea bream ceviche, fried goats cheese and veal steak for two. Easily one of the best meals we have had in Portugal and an experience I felt needed to be shared.

I just re-read my enthusiastic review from 2014. Oh, the dreams of youth, the wild imaginings of another time...
Back on earth I have re-visited the restaurant twice and both were a real disappointment. The location is still lovely (if very hard to find without GPS/SatNav) and the service friendly but the menu and food are just plain ordinary if not, heaven help us, mediocre.
The inventiveness and delightful gastronomic twists to good Portuguese cooking have disappeared. What remains is not even that good, just OK. I could get the same food in almost any average "tasca" (everyday small restaurant) in the region. Yes, it's fine. You can eat a more or less decent meal but in no way is this an experience. It is as memorable as a bus stop, as inspiring as a tax return. It's just boringly average. What a shame. Nuff said.
