In 1985, Jim Mellody dreamed up the idea of a family friendly restaurant, a neighborhood pub where friends and families could gather to enjoy good food and sports in a fun, comfortable atmosphere. Together, with his wife Jeanette, they embellished the Bra
We had a very enjoyable lunch recently at Beef O'Brady's. We were immediately greeted as we entered the restaurant and our hostess escorted us to the table, she was pleasant and hospitable. Our server, Amanda came immediately to the table and offered beverages. We ordered iced tea. Amanda was very friendly and hospitable, she did well to carry on a conversation and found a commonality to use to build a rapport with us. She made this a very nice experience and it is obvious that she truly loves her job.Our food was served quickly after ordering. After living in South Jersey I always crave a good cheesesteak and this one was for sure the best in the Birmingham area. Tasty and yummy good. My wife had the Cuban sandwich and it was also very good. Both portions were very generous. The fries were hot and nicely seasoned. We used a coupon that was part of a Hoover Bucs coupon book. They honored it without issue. A recent score of 97 on their Health Department inspection shows that they are doing an excellent job of following food handling requirements and doing well to reduce the risk of food borne illness. This was a great experience and we look forward to returning soon.

We enjoyed a nice dinner on Sunday evening at Applebee's in Hoover. Entering the restaurant we were immediately greeted by the hostess, we asked for seats in the bar area and she escorted us to our table. We were immediately greeted by our server Madison who inquired about a drink order, I asked what beers were on tap, and she repeated the beers available. I was a little disappointed that they didn't carry any local craft beers so I had a Sam Adams. Shortly after she took our food order. Madison was friendly and efficient but could have done a little more to build a rapport with us to take the service to a higher level. She didn't make any suggestions or make a comment as we ordered our entrees. She didn't ask if we wanted an appetizer or starter so I ordered an Artichoke Dip. Madison did well to check on us to insure our food was to our satisfaction and at the end of the meal she suggested dessert which we declined being full from the large portion. Food quality was very good. The artichoke dip was hot although many of the chips were broken pieces. My chicken parm was delicious and a large portion. My wife had the spicy stir fry won ton with shrimp, very tasty. A bit spicy but not too bad. All in all a good dinner and a good value and we recommend Applebees. The manager even came by our table to see if everything was ok. A review of the Jefferson County Health Department scores shows that they scored a 90 on their most recent health inspection. While on the surface a 90 sounds good they do have to pay attention to health department standards to insure they are doing all they can to reduce the risk of food borne illness.

Food, delicious. Service, on par with typical seated service chain restaurants.I have been eating here for years. Although I have tried a few other menu items, which were all good, I still come back to the wing baskets. The Spencer's Gooey Fries are favorite with my family, and highly recommended. The Fried Pickles are tasty too. If you are visiting from out of town and are not fortunate to have a Baumhower's near you, then you must try.

We thought the food was exceptional and the service was friendly and competent. I had the Caprise flat bread and it was different and delicious. The goat cheese dried cranberry and pecan and apple salad was fresh and crisp and delicious. I substituted the balsamic dressing for the mustard dressing and it was a winner. They list a spicy pimento a burger but my husband just wanted a pimento cheese sandwiches with tomato and bacon and it was exceptional he omitted the beef patty. Would go again.
