Things to do in Auburn
This is the best sushi restaurant Iâve tried in this town (Auburn and Opelika). All you have to do is walk through the doors and look at the sushi chefs. I have nothing but mad love for Latinos, I mean Iâm MARRIED to one. But I donât want my sushi made by a Venezuelan, and it seems like almost all of our local sushi places have Spanish sushi âchefsâ....Sushiya has skilled Japanese artisans. The quality of the tuna is pristine, my favorite roll is the sun moon and stars (it has no rice, wrapped in cucumber). The Poke bowls are very good. However, Iâm taking away a star for the salad dressing and tempura. I hate the salad dressing here. Itâs a sweet, creamy dressing. Itâs flavorless, which is compounded by the fact that the lettuce is always sopping wet (very typical of Asian restaurants for some reason). Surely they make some type of industrial âsalad spinnerâ. But in regards to the dressing, it should be either a high quality peanut, or ginger dressing, Sushiyaâs is neither. Itâs bland and too mayonnaisey. Also, the tempura is only mediocre. I wasnât impressed with vegetables used or the tempura batter. Both of these issues can easily be remedied. I love the atmosphere. The music they play is AWESOME, Stones, Zeppelin, Bowie. Please never change that! Itâs extremely clean and the servers are wonderful.

The sushi here is great and they have an excellent sushi chef that will accommodate special requests. There is a sit down sections and a section for the hibachi. Great place to eat!
Lunch at Sushi Bistro was very pleasant. It is a small attractive spot located in the Mooreâs Mill shopping area in Auburn. It is tastefully appointed and quiet. There is banquette seating on one side and booths on the other. Thereâs a minimal sushi bar thatâs staffed by pros. The lunch menu is as small as the restaurant. Teriyaki bowls, Bento boxes and around 15 rolls are it. There is a larger selection offered at dinner including limited Nigiri. So there are fewer fish options. Considering the staff, who are perfectly dressed, chances are you can have what you want even though the printed selections are less than other places. Our server was top notch and appropriately polite and attentive. There are 2 âcolumnsâ of maki sushi at lunch. Your choices are 2 for $8.50 or $11.50. This includes a salad. The bowls and boxes are around $9.We ordered 2 rolls from each column. They were prepared very well and full of goodies. Each was made in an expected classic style with good attention to detail. The rice could have used some extra care. The presentation was reserved and still fun. From the left column we requested a spicy tuna roll and a shrimp tempura roll. The first was packed with tuna and had a touch of spicy. There were 2 shrimp in the tempura roll with nice crispy tails. From the right column the selections were the New York roll and the fried crazy roll. The New York roll was very attractive with excellent salmon on top with fried shrimp and crab inside. Crazy rolls contain spicy crab, jalapeno and cream cheese. This version was deep fried with a light exterior crunch. The rolls were very good and made for a satisfying lunch. Even with a limited menu, there are plenty of selections to bring you back. Iâll certainly be there several more times and try to spend some time with the sushi chefs. There is ample parking available out front with excellent handicap access. There is easy in and out from Ogletree Road. This is a very small restaurant and not suitable for large groups or many children. The service was moderately paced as proper sushi takes time. Sushi Bistro is worthy of a spot on your dining place list.

Went here on a recommendation of a coworker. Sadly I have to admit that it was my first visit, despite living here for years. I have definitely been missing out. I had teriyaki chicken, tempura fried shrimp, and sushi. Every singly thing was fantastic. I will be visiting Fuji much more often in the future.
Went there for lunch and my first impression was the music. Sounded almost like roller coaster tycoon music at times and at other times elevator music. The atmosphere was almost bar like with many sports things and tvs in there. Not what I expected from a korean/japanese place. The food was delightful at bare minimal. Ordered steamed dumplings for an appetizer that were definitely fresh and absolutely delicious. Not too salty in the least (which is always a worry I have with dumplings). Ordered 2 rolls of sushi for myself and 1 for my lovely date (which happened to be half off on sushi rolls that day). My rolls were absolutely wonderful. Had a spicy tuna sandwich roll with crunchys (not sure what they are exactly called, tempura?) on top that was delightful. The second roll was a salmon roll that was, easily, the best sushi roll I've ever had. The sushi chef blow torched the salmon on top for crying out loud! My date's sushi was the most artistic and pretty sushi roll I've seen. The spider roll she had looked like it had plants growing out of it (in a good way!). You can tell the sushi chef took real pride in his art. Overall, this is one of if not the best sushi experiences I've had. 10/10 would nom nom again.
