Mirko Pasta Italian Restaurant

Mirko is one of our all-time favorites. My husband and I eat here often, have tried nearly everything on the menu, and often bring out-of-town guests. Service is exceptional and every table gets fresh bread rolls with a tasty white bean/garlic/rosemary ragu as an appetizer. The pastas are made fresh in-house. Last night I had mushroom-stuffed ravioli in a vodka smoked salmon and pea sauce. (You can build your own dish choosing pasta, sauce, and protein/vegetable sides.) My husband loves the zuppa de pesce. All desserts are excellent, but we love the chocolate mousse topped with fresh whipped cream and ladyfingers. The tiramisu is a close second.

Roma Cafe

We have eaten here several times and the food is consistently good. However, I write this as I am now 45 mins into waiting for a table and can seriously count 9 open tables. Several other people have waited even longer than us and they will not seat anyone! It’s not even like the tables just all opened up at the same time. Tables have been available for at least 30 mins and nobody was seated. They say they are short staffed, but this is a smaller place and we have counted six servers which should be sufficient for the number of tables. Even if they are short staffed, at least seat people and explain this.

Via Emilia

It’s hard to find a restaurant that beats my expectations, but Via Emilia blew me away! The Italian food was flavorful, authentic and fresh. My son loved the fresh baked focaccia, devoured two baskets of it and still managed to eat his Fettuccine Alfredo. Tells you how good the Alfredo sauce was. My fried green tomato was crispy and tangy. My fried eggplant was light, crispy and flavorful, topped with savory shrimp and served on a bed of perfectly cooked al detente linguine and a smokey tomato sauce. My husband’s spaghetti and meatballs was well balanced and packed with flavor. I even managed to find room for homemade tiramisu which was perfection. It was like eating in your Italian grandmother’s kitchen with authentic northern Italian cuisine in a converted home. If you’re in Mobile, AL make a stop at this amazing restaurant. It’s worth the trip!
