We had the "entire" family (grandkids, kids, us & great grandpa) there for dinner. The restaurant was about 25% full. We were seated promptly but it took "forever" for them to take our beverage order and even longer for our food orders. By then the 2 & 6 year old were getting very restless. Once we ordered the food was delivered promptly and it was very good. I only wished that their chili rellenos were available with chicken instead of beef for shrimp. I got the nacho supreme instead and it was excellent. They were very quick to refill the beverages, but getting the bill took a while.I would have given it at least 4 stars other than the initial service.

This family-owned restaurant is very well managed. The menu is reasonably priced as well. The salsa is perfect (not watery and fresh) and the guacamole is very tasty as well. Of the three times I've eaten there, I've tried something different each time and the food is always fresh (not stale like out of a can).

This is not a Mexican restaurant, itâs rooted El Salvador cooking. You start out with the usual chips and salsa. Then they bring out a large jar of shredded cabbage and other ingredients that give the cabbage a kick. I ordered the plat loci, pork and chicken with rice and beans. Unlike other restaurants their beans donât look like beans, more like a smooth dark chocolate purée. The flavor was just as dark and rich.We ordered fried plantains with sour cream and beans. It sounds weird but the combo works! The tortillas are more like hoe cakes, corn bread pancakes.I canât wait for the weekend when they serve what they described as a âbeef feet and tripeâ soup.

Helena's best Mexican Restaurant. With over 20 years of culinary experience, El Patron is locally owned and operated.
I recently ordered the streak yucatecas with extra pico de gallo. The food was great. The steak was a little chewy in places but overall wonderful. I would definitely order the meal again. The individual who took my order wasnât the most friendly but it could have been an off day. I will definitely go back.

This was the first Mexican restaurant in Helena, and it's still the best. Great service. Great food. Great location. They are always quick. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. I love to support a restaurant that took a chance to come here before there were other options.

We are monthly regulars even with the now 20 minute drive. This place is not fancy. It is not trendy. It has great service, friendly owners, and consistently good food. A really good community based restaurant that sponsors sports teams and Pelham City Schools. Ask for the freshly made guacamole. It is s generous size and wonderful. The grilled Frijatas wraps are so tasty. The chicken enchilada verde is delicious. All must be washed down with a real margarita.
