Being vegetarian and coeliac definitely presents it's challenges when travelling. We thought To Stachi would be a great find.We found the restaurant through tripadvisor and was looking forward to it ALL day!! However, I actually think this was the WORST restaurant I have ever been to... The food was just terrible. My partner was offered bread and got a basket of bread (extra charge on bill) which was rock hard/stale.. unedible. He decided to get the "special" of the day.. it was a plate of microwaved to within an inch of its life slop. Like literally the vegetables were slop.(Like seriously.....?! This is supposed to be a vegetarian restaurant?!?!?!?!) I ordered a chickpea soup....... and I received a bowl of water with salt in it and some chickpeas floating around... Just pure despicable food. I would NOT recommend this place at all. We literally pushed the food around the plate, paid and left to go eat in another restaurant straight after as we were starving (and now grumpy..!)

When asked what kind of cuisine they most enjoyed, our friends answered unpretentious cooking that make people fell at home. The food featured in our menu have derived from an ethnic home style tradition "peasant food" created by hardworking people who cooked for themselves using minimal equipment, fresh and local products and simple cooking methods.
We haven't been there for ages so it was hard to believe the degradation in the quality of food. Still the place is quite popular with the locals as prices are very reasonable. The sauces of the starters the fried potatoes the sausages were not...MoreWe would like to thank you for your review. Our customers’ opinion is what make us improving. We hope to see you another time.

This place could rival any French patisserie in terms of what is on offer. It isn't your typical Greek pastries on sale. The cabinet is filled with beautiful looking pastries. I had the coffee cream tart which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the lemon tart - also excellent. It is very pleasant sitting in the little street outside enjoying your coffee and pastry. I found the staff serving us (a male) to be courteous. You can get a decaf coffee here too.

This may well be the smallest restaurant in Chania, hence the name ‘To Mikio Tavrrna’ which means ‘The Little Taverna.’ But this restaurant has the biggest heart of any restaurant in town. Nevertheless, obviously Reservations are a must! Come and check out the restaurant that everyone is trying to get into and talking about! PLEASE NOTE: MIKIO WILL CLOSE FOR THE WINTER ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2017. The staff looks forward to seeing you in the spring!
very small restaurant, fully booked for days in advance, we managed a booking for 3 days ahead, arrived about 10mins early and table waiting, but be warned do not arrive late they will give your table away, we saw a couple arrive 10mins late although they had booked table given away, limited menu but authentic greek food cooked freshly , on a back street in the old town, well worth a visit

The gelateria sits just off Chalidon, close to the Orthodox Church of Holy Mary, on its piazza. Sitting outside, the view of the church is lovely.
The ice cream is sensational! Not sure when I've had better. I had a 2-scoop pistachio and vanilla; Mrs LL had a 2-scoop of amarena cherry and marscapone. Full flavour, not one of them over, reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

BEHIND THE TOWN HALL 100 METERS FROM THE BUS STATION Traditional Cretan and Mediterranean food
We had dinner in this place outside the old town but near (behind the town hall).
The friendly waiter explained us plates of the day. We choose zucchini with eggs and roasted lamb. Both were good and tasty. Big portions.
Dessert (yummy fruit with yoghurt) and raki on the house.
Cheap prices.
I'll recommended it.

Ask the owner Nektarios if he recommends fish and if he does by all means take it - no matter the price. We had a whole Kefalo for three and you could literally taste the sea water. Add some Xorta (Local cooked super healthy greens) and Tirokafteri (spicy cheese spread) and you are set for an evening of joy.

Lovely to come back to the little bar at the far end of the harbour that served as our local when we last visited Chania a couple of years ago. The same pretty waitress and less pretty owner we’re still there and the view from the bar remains stunning.
No pressure or hard sell here, I only drank water this time and we just sat and watched the world go bar for half a hour - bliss..

We celebrated my mother-in-law’s 50th birthday so naturally everything had to be perfect.
Everything, from the service, to the food and especially the wine selection was on point and way above what we had expected (even though we went in with very high expectations). We had some special requests regarding the wine and allergies - these were accommodated with a smile.
The only small stumble was that the cheese selection for dessert was not introduced but then all we had to do was ask, so this was a very minor thing.
We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. You won’t be disappointed!
