Reviews on Japanese food in Coyhaique, Aisen Region, Chile. Coyhaique (Spanish pronunciation: [koˈʝai̯.ke]), also spelled Coihaique in Patagonia, is the capital city of both the Coyhaique Province and the Aysén Region of Chile. Founded by settlers in 1929, it is a young city. Until the twentieth century, Chile showed little interest in exploiting the remote Aisén region. The Carretera Austral road opened in the 1980s.

We did not try the sushi which looked good, but had some great ceviche at this restaurant. The Gyosas were delicious, too. They resembled Indian samosas rather than Japanese Gyosas but that did not matter of course. Service was friendly, prices OK. Would definitely go here again.

We were told that this was the best sushi place in town (but have since learned that the other two are better) so we had high expectations. We're from a place with a high Japanese population so when I saw that they had "tempura" on the menu I was very excited. Unfortunately, it could not have been further from tempura. It wasn't even dipped in a batter, let alone a tempura batter. Bummer.
I highly recommend this restaurant. The sushi is amazing and the owner/ chef Jorge is a truly nice guy- he speaks English as well
