Chatma is located in the southwest corner of Park Number One, a 10 minute walk from the center of town. Being in the park, the restaurant is in a quiet area of town and surrounded by lots of nice trees. There are two dining areas - the main dining room in the central area of the building and a more casual covered patio area on the side of the building. I sat on the patio, which was open to the fresh air and had comfortable seating and eclectic decoration. The menu has a good mix of Turkmen (grilled meats), Russian (Stroganoff, Borsht), and Western (pizzas, etc) food. They also have a nice selection of desserts, but I skipped those on my visit.The food came out reasonably fast and was delicious! The servings were a good size and the presentation was very nice. Service was fast and professional with my server checking in regularly to see if I needed anything. She did not speak English, but they do have English menus and I really had no problem ordering, getting drink refills, and so on. Everyone was very friendly, as well!After dinner, take a walk through the park to experience some of the local flavor. Many families come here on the warm evenings to enjoy the various children's rides or to have an ice cream cone or cold drink. It is a pleasant scene and a nice way to spend some time in the evening!

This old soviet style restaurant located in the gorge. It popular among local people and brides and has a lot of tables located in the open space under the trees and local style "topchans" - trestle beds where you can lay and eat food. The food is not so good, manly simple salads and barbecue of Caucasian style (Shashlik) . Unfortunately barbecue has more bones than meet. I like it because you can enjoy mountains and lay in the shade of trees. The river runs near, but the water level in it dropped and it reminds a spring.

I've visited this place many times but long ago.Last couple of visits were terrible. Ashgabat such place where not much to go but better to seat at home rather than going there.Staff attitude. I went for the drink. Waitress just drop menu on the table and has gone... Forever! No jokes! Finally I went to the bar and ask drink. So, when I finish my drink no one offer me another one. Completely ignoring staff. I went out angry. I gave them another chance and visited place again. No way! I will never come back. And it's normal in this place. I sat for an hour and there were few more people who got the same experience.I must say food are fine there. But what you feel like when your overall experience aren't the same.Another annoying point. There always few people walking around and they are definitely not are guest.Nothing personal. Just really bad experience!

We were really surprised that the menu covered so many different cuisines. We ordered the lamb biryani and the liver in fat. The food is really good. the portions are generous.The view from the restaurant is great and there is even a pianist providing wonderful music.

It took 20 minutes to find the place with the local taxi. The place is very green. Feels like you are sitting in some vacational island or hotel. Steaks were excellent. The decor and atmosphere at Sha is international and fun. It has the comfortable coffee shop feel while also feeling like a table service, casual dining restaurant (which it is as well). The food selection is comprehensive and everything we ate was delicious. They had menus in English and the waitress also spoke ok English. We found the prices to be a bit more expensive than what we were expecting, so we skipped on having coffee and only ordered food. Would recommend Sha to anyone visiting Ashgabat and looking for a nice meal and casual place to hang out.
