Reviews on International food in Ashgabat, Ahal Province, Turkmenistan. Nestled between the Kopet Dag range and the Kara Kum desert, Ashgabat is a flat, sometimes dusty city twinkling with unique architecture. As a marker of Turkmenistan's official neutrality, the city's most recognizable monument, the Neutrality Arch, rotates during the daylight hours, facing the sun throughout the entire day. The city is home to many mosques and markets, as well as important museums, including one memorializing the 1948 earthquake that decimated the population.

I visited Ashgabat on business in September 2014. I didn't know what to expect and didn't have time to research.I was very surprised. The city has been built over the last 5 years. The buildings are all new, all finished with marble which makes a fantastic view at night. Their ministry buildings are architected based on the sector they host (the ministry of education building has the form of a book, the ministry of foreign affair has a globe on top and the ministry of communications looks like a telephone). The people are friendly, although not too many people speak English, even business people. If you go for a meeting bring gifts with something where you come from, it is a tradition and if they visit you they will do the same.
Very good steak restaurant. Not quite as good as the one up by the wedding palace, but well worth a visit. The sides are better, in my opinion. Many different sizes and cuts of beef.

I highly recommend this restaurant for dinner, as it is located on the 12th floor and has very large windows - you can get a different angle of the entire city anywhere you look, beautifully iluminated, in different colors - very impressive. The food was also good.. and in very generous portions. We had the local traditional fixed menu - 7 (or 8..) courses - took a lot of pictures - it was a very enjoyable evening!

A good option in the Berkarar Shopping Mall Food Court that is a bit different from the usual fare in Ashgabat. Jamie Oliver should get royalties... He is the obvious inspiration and blaring on a loop on the TV in the background. They are getting close, but not quite... My Gazpacho soup was tasty, but had too much jalapeño pepper in it. Service was slow. On the plus side, the restaurant is done up in an light and airy style."A" for trying, but they need to fly Jamie in for some quick consulting work... :-)

We Proud to be the best restaurant in Turkmenistan. We making home delivery from 10 am to 11 pm. You can call us and make booking.
I have eaten at this place many times, and the one complaint I have is the limited menu. There aren't that many choices, so I wish they would work on that. Other than that, this place offers delicious choices - their "Cappuccino" mushroom soup is fantastic, they used to do a great chicken with couscous that they've (sadly) discontinued, and they do very good seafood dishes. The sushi is also surprisingly good, you wouldn't expect sushi from an otherwise-european-food restaurant. They have a good wine selection, though it's highly overpriced. The staff is very attentive and welcoming, and the chef will come out and ask you if your food is how you like it. They also readily make substitutions if the ingredient is available. Overall, this place isn't for everyday dining, but for special occasions, I'd say. I'm not a fan of the interior, and their "VIP" room is just hideously decorated. There is a small semi-private area where there are just 3 tables, and that's my favorite place to sit. You're separated from the main room, but it's not completely closed off. There is also a very nice outdoor dining area, which is open during the warmer months. The minus there is that it's TOO WARM in the summer, and there are no fans - there used to be some big industrial fans, but clients apparently said they were too loud, so they were taken away. Probably best to sit outside in the spring and fall, when it isn't too warm. The live music is nice enough, adds to the experience. Thanks for visiting us. Please come again
The decor and atmosphere at Sha is international and fun. It has the comfortable coffee shop feel while also feeling like a table service, casual dining restaurant (which it is as well). The food selection is comprehensive and everything we ate was delicious. They had menus in English and the waitress also spoke ok English. We found the prices to be a bit more expensive than what we were expecting, so we skipped on having coffee and only ordered food. Would recommend Sha to anyone visiting Ashgabat and looking for a nice meal and casual place to hang out.

The restaurant provides meals in a yurts. The furniture in a yurt follows traditions of Turkmenistan - carpets, pillows, low tables. IT is clean and have good design for those who likes traditions. The menu is wide and includes national and European dishes. The cooking is tasty. The prices are average, not cheep, but not so high as in Europe. About $15-20 per person. Service is not so efficient and takes time. Comparing to Europe services at 5 stars restraints I ill rate them as 3 points.

The best barbeque restaurant in turkmenistan Always fresh and taste foods
Located near to the city center, this restaurant provides a nice atmosphere and you can have fun taking to your friends (the place is quite enough) whilst enjoing your meat and vegetables being grilled on your own table. I recommend to also try their mushrooms with cheese, when grilled they are so tasty... The service is good and the waiters are friendly. Don't drink wine, it's too expensive, beer or vodka are my suggestions.
