Reviewed By Tonyzac17Had 2 nights stay here and we were here to explore the Al Hajar mountains range and the nearby villages. To reach here one must be driving a 4WD vehicle and carry identification or will be stopped at the police check post at the base. This is a budget hotel but it doesn't compromise in cleanliness & other services they provide. Rooms are neat and reasonably spacious. The bathroom is clean and well equipped with all the basic needs. The staffs are friendly and helpful, they even have an Indian chef for those who enjoy Indian cuisine. There is even an open place for BBQ where we can cook for ourselves. The hotel is having a beautiful pool which resembles a shape of a guitar and is well maintained.

The Cliff Guest House is located in a remote little Omani village in the middle of the Jebel Akhdar Mountain. The bedrooms are hanging over a cliff and will provide you with all the natural peace and tranquility there is. At the moment this guest house has 6 bed rooms and has been built by a group of enthusiastic Oman lovers to help the villagers establish some income for future generation

Reviewed By alicerogers48We stayed here for 2 nights and it was hands down the most unforgettable and special place we have ever stayed. Everyone who works there is lovely. The rooms and bathrooms are done to an extremely high standard and the food is delicious. Whilst it is cold at night, they make sure you have enough blankets and it is SO worth it for the star-gazing and experience. We also did a great walk and had time to relax with the breath-taking views. Can't recommend this place enough.

The dinner was nice and tasty, would probably recommend the Indian options and breakfast big hearty overdone serves. Needs a smarten up but adequate for an overnight stay.

Great Budget Accomodation
Reviewed By JessmeierWe really enjoyed our stay at Majan Guesthouse! Really good value for money accomodation, not far from the centre of Nizwa. The rooms are very spacious, with great bathrooms and airconditioning. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, and we found the hotel very easily! The only negative was the breakfast, which we felt was quite poor quality, but other than that it was a great hotel. Note: there is no lift, so this could be an issue for elderly guests.

Reviewed By Asim IWe have stayed at the Date Palm Inn now on three occasions whilst visiting Nizwa, most recently in May 2022. The establishment is just usually used by travelers as a budget, no-frills stop-gap... most guests that we have met there, arrive around 6pm and are gone by first light... But my family and I love this place... the rooms are basic but clean, there is good Wi-Fi connectivity, you can pre-book breakfast on the day of your arrival (that's because the workers have to go and buy the ingredients for the next morning), so we never do, also the kitchen is very basic to say the least. To be frank, the stay is not so much as a hotel stay, or even a guesthouse, but more like one of those stays around a distant distant uncle or auntie's house, workers are there but just pottering around minding there own business, and you are pretty much left to your own devices...we do help ourselves to the kettle and make a cuppa. The highlight for us is that the Inn has a small petty farm on-site, including goats, sheep, chicken, ducks, plus of course cats. My children aged 9 and 8 years old love this aspect of our stay, and the fact that they can get so up and close to the animals. The two workers that live on-site allowed my children access, this visit they helped to milk the goats and then bottle-fed the newly born kids... it was a truly amazing experience. The Date Palm Inn is centrally located, nestled within the heart of Nizwa old-town, taking a vehicle to the location can be a bit of a challenge navigating very narrow winding streets, but all part of the fun. For my family, staying at this hotel has very much become a feature of our visits to Nizwa, if you visit and stay be prepared for an amazing but basic experience!

Reviewed By ZoéGood customer service. The receptionist even ordered a takeaway for us. We had a great room - a two bedroom apartment with a big living room. A fully functional kitchen too with dishes etc. I could have stayed a lot longer than one night. Such lovely staff and great location for our homeward journey to Abu Dhabi.

Reviewed By mrc282this is one of the newer guest houses around at Jabal Shams. there is no formal signage towards the guesthouse from the main road, but when driving from the Nizwa direction, the guesthouse will be on a turn-off on your right hand side. It is located a few minutes after you pass the Sama Heights Hotel, but before the Grand Canyon viewpoint. there are also a few other guesthouse nearby it as well eg Canyon Rest House. room is basic and comfortable. there are no eateries at the property, but there are 2 options nearby - Sama Heights Hotel and Jebel Shams Resort - where you can go for your meals.

spacious, luxurious and oriental room
Reviewed By Aleksandra PA big hotel, quite empty at this time of the year. We are the only visitors here. The room is spacious, luxurious and oriental with a big, comfortable bed and three windows. The bathroom is nice and clean. The linen and the towels are white and clean. We get a big breakfast. The staff is nice. The price is a bit too high, I think. We pay 29 OMR for one night.
