The hotel is not very expensive. We took a room in a weekend in December with supposed seaview, It was probably eeh best pseudo-seaview room they had but one needed to wrong one's neck to one side and open the French balcony doors to really see the sea a bit and not much. Should not be sold as seaview. Rooms are also quite smallish although ceilings are high. Bathrooms was nicely modernized but hard to reach at night. The mattress was a cheap springy one with little confort. Not sure how camino people can sleep on that. It bends through easily and it is not very large. Only good for smaller local people. The hotel was deserted. Only one other person stayed there. The inner court was closed off.. NIce general aareas with antquiues, sort of like living in history. The area outside the hotel was nearly deserted. Initially all restaurants were closed. Many have gone bust and will not open again. One simple restaurant opened only briefly and one better be early there or there would not be a free table. The breakfast in teh hotel was a bit odd. Lots of nice sweets, pastries but nothing nutritive, almost no cold cuts nor eggs nor bacon. More like a sugar breakfast. Good coffee though. In season parking would be hard to find but now it was easy in such a deserted environment. Upon asking further I was told that teh few restaurants that remain open do noy open on sundays, so stay away from this town on sundays (no shops open either then). better to visits Portugal on the other side where shops and restaramnts are open on sundays by using the bridge 15 km away. Also considre that in teh weekends the clinic is not open and often the one emergency doc available a few hours is too occupied. The nearest real hospital is 65 km away. No dentists that work in the weekends either. It is a very isolated place.

Wonderfully renovated old convent. Room fully equipped and tasteful and building is crammed full of artefacts dating from 14th century. Mainly ecclesiastic paintings and objects. Central courtyard with fountain and seating and large common sitting room. Breakfast was great also. Located close to harbour and excellent eating places. Very well worth a stay and a wander through the corridors.

Absolutely wonderful, simple little hotel. Staff was amazing and welcomed us with open arms during our Camino. Have us water on arrival and helped us store our bikes on site. By far the best place we stayed during our trip. I can’t recommend them enough.

one night stopover and it was perfect. rooms were clean and comfortable, 2 bedrooms plus sofa bed, with kitchen. Dogs were welcome.Lovely greeting on arrival and very helpful throughout. Kids loved the farm with the chicks, donkey, pigs , bulls etc. Also a bouncy castle and football pitch. Only downside was tough to control temperature so it was very hot but overall a great stay and i would definitely return if passing

The room was lovely, very clean with a nice bathroom and towels. Beds very comfortable. We walked down the hill to find a restaurant for dinner, but choice was limited choice. Breakfast was very good, lots of fruit, bread, pastries and coffee, served to us in the bar. There are a few supermarkets in the town so we were able to pick up supplies for our camino walk, the next morning.

Guarda was a convenient stop for us as we hiked from Ancorda to Mougas. The breakfast left a lot to be desired, but there was a nice restaurant that was only a couple hundred feet away for after hike refreshments. The hostel is located on a nice cove that is good for walking barefoot on the beach. This hostel was 'good enough' and it helped that it was on the outskirts of town allowing us to divide our hike up a bit. Because it is so close to Ancorda, we took the long way around the peninsula finding some true treasures and meeting some very nice people who just wanted to talk about stuff. The hostel was full of other Camino Hikers, many who came in well after we did and left well before. I would not stay here if it weren't for the convenience on the hike. We slept just fine though and the shower was great.

This was booked as part of a package and I wish it hadn’t been. I was walking the Camino and while the town isn’t big, the uphill location wasn’t the best for me. The room was stuffy and stale when I entered. The small window was broken; it only opened at the top and did not swing open as so many do. There was no fan or AC in the small room. No tub only a shower with tepid water in the morning. the breakfast was sad. No eggs and too many carbs, canned pineapple. I felt there wasn’t much love put into this place. I only found the man at the front desk who made an effort to use google translate helpful.

I stayed with my family for 3 weeks in July and I cannot recommend it enough. The views of the river are just stunning. The food is very nice and varied and the service is excellent. There are activities for the children in the mornings and afternoons and the staff could not have been nicer. It is also ideally located to explore Portugal. Will come back!
