Step inside the home of Donegal Tweed at our Visitor Centre and Factory based in the picturesque town of Ardara Co. Donegal. Just a 20 minute drive along one of the most scenic routes that Donegal has to offer you are sure to be greeted with a warm welcome and an Irish Coffee at Triona Design. Our Centre is approved by Bord Failte and we offer a unique experience to all our visitors. Inside you will find a life size replica cottage of the Mulhern family home and get the opportunity to step inside and see for yourself where it all began. We also offer a Weaving Demonstration from one of our Master Weavers on 200 year old Hand Looms and enjoy an audio visual display detailing the history and heritage of Donegal Tweed. Alongside our tour you can purchase our own Triona Donegal Tweed in our factory store and also purchase a selection if Irish Knitwear and rare Irish Gold Jewelery.
2nd time shopping at Triona Design. I have never been able to wear wool in my life. They have Marino wool sweaters that are as soft as can be, (wearable despite my usual wool allergy) and beautiful designs. The shop keepers are very helpful and they will ship if necessary. I took mine with me. Lovely shop, merchandise. Also take a look at the thatched house in the back near the loom. Fascinating.

At the Falcarragh Visitor Centre, you can immerse yourself in the lives of our rural ancestors from Falcarragh and its surrounding region. The Centre, which contains a Coffee Shop, Craft Shop and Tourist Information Desk, is housed in an ex-R.I.C. barracks. Permanent exhibits of the history and culture of the barracks are on display. The Centre is open all year round.

Great day out, we did the cottage tour and it was brilliant, so informative and fun (we had Martina as a guide). We also did the boat trip and it was class, great views of the surrounding scenery and again lots of history and local stories. A must visit if you are in the area.
