This was one of my most memorable mornings of my life. The SUP stand up padle in Barragem dos Minutos in Alentejo was very easy and fun. The tour of the wine and gin makers destilar was very educational and the owner was amazing, explaining everything in a calm and cool speach that we loved. The wine tasting under the trees was also great and relaxing. Would repeat this tour again this time with more friends and/or family.

While the title seems to say it all, to put it into context, we have been traveling for 30 years and always arrange for our own guides even if we are on a cruise. Not only did Paulo have a tremendous depth of knowledge about both the past and present of Portugal, he had the ability to tell the story in a concise and relevant manner that was engrossing. There were a number times during our day with Paulo when we would say to ourselves, "This is the best guide that we have ever had"! And indeed he was.

We visited a couple of large churches, the one had a very long line so it took it least a half an hour to get into it. We also visited a cafe known for their custard pies. There is always a line to get into the restaurant, but being on tour, we got right in. They produce 10,000 small pies per day and they are warm when you get them, along with your choice of cold or hot drinks. Did I mention the pies are excellent? We went into the main shopping district, which are closed off streets and must be about one mile long. You will find outdoor cafes here, bakeries, souvenirs. You will also find mimes here also.
