Cosy place

Reviewed By Zeusjuice70

Good location, free parking and breakfast. Rooms are clean, nice and big. Small hot bath, free vending machine for coffee or tea. Nice view. However the walls are quite thin. So have to speak softly and the wooden floors can be quite noisy. The view of the lake is beautiful. Price mid range. No lift, so if you have huge luggage please take note. Staff are friendly and some can speak Chinese. I've been to Lake toya several times and this is my 1st time staying here. Highly recommended.

Public Use of Onsen

Reviewed By Keren and Ben W

My family visited the area in search of a nice onsen with a view. We arrived just after 3pm and unfortunately were turned away as they said public use of onsens is only prior to 3pm. Can anyone else confirm this? We found a nice indoor/outdoor onsen down the road anyway.

Amazing view and Onsen

Reviewed By cranqee66

We're family of four and stayed one day, we arrived early and had to wait for 4 hours before checking in. We went around town, but it was snowing, so not much option. Check in was easy and quick, but English was limited. All information were not translated in other languages. As pricy as this hotel, at least they should have people translate information into other languages. We had the corner room looking over the lake and to the side of the parking lot, room feels big. They also charged our two kids less than 8 with adult price, which I thought was ridiculous. Anyway, the view amenities, private onsen and the decor are amazing. You can sit there all day to enjoy the Lake Toya view. We went to the sister hotel to eat dinner and breakfast, which were okay, not thing special. They had Tahiti performance after dinner which was great. The kids and I love the Waterland at the sister hotel. We can access that from 3PM-10PM. The wave pool was the best and some water slides . There are life guards there, which I thought was nice. Note that there's no towel supply for us, you have to walk over to their onsen area to get towel when you are done. We ended up going back to our hotel to shower and change. The onsen at the locates located on the 8th floor with a tiny gym. There are two sides, outdoor pool and indoor with a sauna. They also have popsicles for you to eat afterwards. That was a great personal touch. Amid the price for charging two young's kids, I would go back in a heartbeat. Some things to change, lack of customer service ( staff were nice but not welcoming), welcoming tea at the main floor would be nice. More restaurant options.

Good stay if you don't mind the cigarette odor

Reviewed By pelupss

Pros: Accessible by limited bus every 2 hours/40 mins from Toyako Onsen bus terminal (you can use bus from Toyako Onsen bus Terminal bound for JR Toya, Showa Shinzan or Murouran). 170yen to/from Showa Shinzan (Usuzan Ropeway), 230 yen to/from Toyako onsen. Bus stop name Sobetsu onsen, less than 1 min walk. Big room size equipped with toilet and had very nice lake view. Shower/onsen were shared. If you want to escape the densed Toyako Onsen area, this would be a good choice for reasonable price for half board. Dinner in Japanese style was very good, breakfast was OK. Staff were helpful. Cons: No non-smoking room. Building smells of cigarette. Conclusion: My 2 nights stay there was hampered by my mistake of not realizing the rooms were all smoking rooms (even with deodorization, it still smells of cigarette). Otherwise, it would be a good stay in Sobetsu

最悪のホステル!WORST HOSTEL **DO NOT** STAY HERE!!

Reviewed By 959albertc

Having stayed in a ton of hostels across Japan, this is by far one of the worst ones I have come across. Some of the key points: - Owner does not speak English at all. Not even a little. Zero! - Terrible service. I wasn't expecting much staying in a hostel, but the owner would not even allow me to stay in the LOBBY for 30 minutes after the checkout time while waiting for a bus, and was extremely rude in forcing me to leave. - Old and dirty. The hostel, which is connected via hallway to Hotel Nakanoshima, looks like it's on the verge of collapse. Bathrooms and spa facility were also filthy. No towels are provided. - Most importantly, the location is very inconvenient. Buses and trains arrive into Toyako Onsen but this hostel is at least a 50 min walk, or you can wait 2+ hours in between local buses. So in summary, you have been warned - it is cheap for a reason. Treat yourself and pick a nice hotel in Toyako Onsen. You get a much better view of the fireworks and it's closer to town.

Simple cottage-style accommodation

Reviewed By mux_ch

This used to be a coffee place. Now it is a very simple guesthouse with a cabin flair. There is all there, but it is a bit cottage style, there is a hot shower, but the other faucets have cold only. The room is laid with tatami which I like. In my case I slept on the floor on a futon (other rooms have beds). It got cold during the night and I was glad that I had a second blanket. As with all guesthouses bring ear-plugs as you will hear your neighbours snore and there is a little traffic on the road right to the house. There is no Internet which is good as it lets you disconnect but also blocks you from planning your journey. Not many more services. Overall the area is beautiful, but due to communication issues, it is hard to figure out where to go hike besides the beaten must-goes (like the gondola to the volcano Uru-san). So overall, you pay for the location.

An inexpensive business hotel close to Usuzan Ropeway.

Reviewed By mabei0123

This inexpensive hotel exists close to Mt. Showa-Shinzan and Usuzan Ropeway, but is far from Toyako Onsen. Thus, if you stay here, it's better to come by driving a rent a car so that you can go to the onsen town at night. If you come by train or bus, consider other hotels in the Toyako Onsen town.
