The Chicama Surf Hotel & Spa is a top class Boutique Hotel that offers travelers, who are in search for an off the beaten path away from cities, a place of comfort with excellent and cozy facilities in one of the most beautiful places of northern Peru.We offer a variety of activities and services suitable for everyone, from day tours to the nearby archaeological sites, a fist class Spa, among other services that will make your stay a memorable experience. For Surfers we offer special services such as Towback with our zodiacs, tours to the nearby surf spots, surf equipment rental and even surf lessons.
After over 40 years, I returned to Chicama for 5 days of surfing on what I consider the most perfect place to surf. Back then, we stay with El Hombre, a local fisherman who gave shelter in his shack to adventurous surfers. We slept on straw mats and ate whatever he offered. Today, what a difference. The Chicama Boutique Hotel was a pleasure and exceeded my expectations by far. Really designed for surfers, but also for companions of surfers who may want to just relax and hang out. The town has changed a lot too. In a way, surf tourism has helped the local economy and provided jobs to the locals. The town has built a beautiful walkway (malecón) along the cliff of the town that is really well-done and epitomize surfers as the force behind progress. The beach, now protected, looks just like it did many years ago. Just simply gorgeous. And surfing was just amazing. Despite my dog wipeouts and struggles with age, the wave is just a beauty. But back to the hotel, I really want to brag about it because the service is top notch. From managers to security guards and the super nice waitresses in the restaurant, I was impressed at the hospitality. I can only describe it as simple. In that sense, Chicama’s locals have always been friendly, but the hotel has brought that friendliness into its business making it extra special. The hotel offers all kinds of amenities for the moments you are not surfing your brains out. It has two pools: outdoor and indoor. A sauna shower offers surfers time to relax muscles after an outing. You can also order a massage for extra cost - $20 USD for a session. For storage, your birds are safe with Santos in the board house. There is always wax if you forgot to bring your own. At the gate to the beach, you have hoses and showers to get the sand off your feet prior to taking your wetsuits off. Santos in the boardhouse will dry your suits for the next outing using the spinning cycle of a washing machine. I’m sure this is critical during colder winters. Upstairs, don’t miss the play room. Pool table, foosball and ping pong. The rooms are comfortable and cleaned every day by super efficient ninjas. You hardly see these people who are trained to do their job while you are out of the room. Plenty of towels for showers and clean sheets. The rooms sit away from the living areas so you can rest and not hear a thing but the wind and ocean. Of course, surfers don’t waste time partying too much and staying up late at night. Everyone is so tired from the surf day that we crash at 8:30. For the surfing experience, and to help maximize your outing in a challenging Chicama current and winds, the hotel provides a Zodiac service. It is optional but highly recommended. Back in the days, we had to walk to the Point, get in, surf all the way to town, then walk back. Three of those rounds, and we were done exhausted. Now, the zodiac service in the water gives you the opportunity to get up to 10 rounds. You save all that walking fighting the wind. $25 for first outing of the day and $40 USD for additional outings. They do have a schedule. There are options to hire private zodiac services in town if you want a more customized schedule. For example, for My friend and I who liked going out at first light, there was no service offered until 8:30 am. The Zodiac experience for me and older folks is a challenge. Getting pass the waves to the zodiac takes quite a bit of effort. By the time you make it after drifting 1000 yards, you are exhausted on a bigger wave day. So then comes the getting on board. The guide in the zodiac is strong, but pulling a 200 pound tire old man is difficult. For me, it was tough and no fun. I bruised my rib area doing it. So be prepare You don’t go to Chicama out of shape. Younger guys have at it! Finally, the most impressive thing for me was the restaurant. It is simply laid out, but the food is excellent. I was not expecting such a treat una remote area. Truly amazing. All meals were great. Fresh, very well presented, delicious, plentiful to fill hungry surfer stomachs, and the service by the waitresses incredible. Everything I had was really good. A long way from the days of our héroe El Hombre fixing a fish soup made a f who knows what. We were hungry and thankful. But now, it is amazing. Well done management. There is always room for improvement in the hospitality world. I don’t want to finish on a negative note, but I hope this helps take the hotel to the next level. I think communications with guests prior and during the stay could have been better. Whether it is the website or confirmation info, guests should be clear as to what the hotel has to offer. For example, we thought that breakfast was included in our rate. It was not at the end. We thought the total zodiac service was $40/day. That was the rate for a second outing. The first one was $25. Upon arrival, it would be good to welcome the guest with a little brochure explaining rules and amenities. For example, we found out after carrying boards to our room that the hotel had a board house with racks to store the boards. No big deal as we learned later it was available. The restaurant had hours of operation for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Let us know ahead of time. The schedule is really convenient and it was not a problem, but I did see a Brazilian group come too late for lunch and find out they missed it. The zodiac schedule and how it works needs to be explained ahead of time. For example the fact that they don’t run at dawn or until 8:30 in the morning. Also, they stop for lunch and don’t come back until about 3:30 pm. Again, no big deal as you find out just seeing it and being out there. Again, everything this hotel has to offer is great. They just need some type of simple welcome package explaining how things work. I really loved my experience at Chicama Boutique hotel. Thanks so much for an unforgettable time. For someone like me whose memory of Chicama’s old days is still vivid, I can say that this hotel made it much more enjoyable and comfortable. I’ll be back for sure and with more friends. Thanks

This is by far the best experience I’ve had while being in Chicama. The hotel is not only beautiful and cozy but has the best location (the view was out of this world!). Staff was constantly concerned about my needs and made everything for me to enjoy my stay even though I was traveling by myself. It honestly felt like home and I’m definitely going back with the friends I made while I was staying there. If you’re looking for a nice place with good waves, make friends or just relax, I highly recommend this place. Special thanks to Kiara for being such an amazing host. See you guys soon!

The rooms are clean and provide all the basic amenities one needs for a pleasant stay, including WIFI, TV 32¨ and hot water. You could use the kitchen and laundry. Transportation from Trujillo is by bus(Dorado) and drops you off directly outside of the hotel. The local way to get around is by mototaxi or walking.
