We spent one night in Huehue at the Ruinas Resort. The staff was excellent, accommodating, and friendly. We requested more towels and they arrived within two minutes to the room. Breakfast was included, and was plentiful with fresh fruit juice and coffee. On the other hand, the room was very dusty and dirty. Our feet/socks were black from walking in the room. Even the common areas looked as though they hadn't been swept or mopped in some time. The pool was much smaller than in the photos on this site; I suppose it had been redone at some point, but it was unclean and shared a bar area where the public was welcome and was crowded with people watching a game. In our room, our toilet didn't have enough water pressure to fully flush, and we had to fill the tank with the shower hose, which was inconvenient. Overall, it was an okay stay with our children, but we'd look for a better option in the future.

this hotel has a enclosed plaza and is very secure. Rooms are very basic and the neighborhood has a few bars that could be noisy , but appear to turn down the volume after 10pm. The Sunday brunch was surprisingly good with cooked to order eggs

The hotel is quiet, clean and very comfortable. We stayed two nights and it was peaceful and very relaxing. The pool was without water but that was not of concern as it was February. The breakfast was very tasty.

This hotel is located a short drive from the Zaculeu Mayan Temple site. There is really nothing uplifting in this drab property. The restaurant is uninviting, serves dreadful food which we could not eat and two painters continued painting the walls of the dining room whilst we were there. The staff is very nice, friendly and helpful which made the stay a bit more bearable. It was a long, highly unpleasant slow drive to get here and simply not worth if you visit other major Mayan sites. We feel that both towns Chichicastenango (weekend market) and Huehuetenango (Zaculeu) are not worth visiting, as the drive is too long, the sights too limited, the towns too dirty and walking around alone not recommended.

Good, clean, inexpensive place next to the beautiful town square and a number of good restaurants. The room with two beds was big, as was the shower and bathroom. The entrance is through a driveway, but the street sign is easy to spot. We had a room towards the street. Rooms in the back might be quieter. We stayed one night and would return.
