The Pestana Churchill Bay overlooks the bay of Câmara de Lobos, a picturesque Madeiran fishing city a few minutes away from Funchal. Now occupying the former Council Chamber and fish wholesale market buildings located on the seafront, the Pestana Churchill Bay was the very first hotel to open in the historic centre of Câmara de Lobos. The backdrop of the city’s white houses, green mountains and deep blue waters of the Atlantic is the ideal setting for a holiday in this charming accommodation. With 57 rooms inspired by the paintings of Winston Churchill, a restaurant offering regional flavours, with a bar and esplanade, a panoramic rooftop pool and a sauna, the Pestana Churchill Bay offers all the conditions for a relaxing holiday in a genuine locality of Madeira. Next to the reception, open to the public, there is a bar and lounge, superiorly decorated, with an outdoor terrace two steps from the water, where poncha and other traditional drinks are served, in the company of Churchill in full size bronze sculpture, hotsopt for lovers of selfies.
My fiancee and I have just hot back from a weeks stay at the Churchill Bay and we cannot speak highly enough of the hotel. From the location to the room and most importantly the staff, everything was just right. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome and were able to relax straight away. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who even provided a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate our recent engagement. The room was clean & comfortable with a lovely shaded balcony and the restaurant was top. We'll definitely be back!

The Pestana Fisherman Village – Boutique Hotel is located in the picturesque historic centre of this town, surrounded by the sea and protected by the hillsides of banana plantations. This new addition to Câmara de Lobos is located in one of the main streets, close to the entertainment and commerce that is characteristic of this location. The 42-room hotel is located in two buildings where a new wing is included, now restored, the original dimensions and features of its architecture have been maintained, contrasting with a light and functional style of decor. The Pestana Fisherman Village – Boutique Hotel offers several living rooms, a library, a cloister, a patio with a water mirror and a terrace with a panoramic swimming pool. In addition to these leisure spaces, it also includes an Interpretative Centre for Fishing and Fishermen. Its prime location, the level of service and the desire to celebrate the authenticity of the location have all led to the well-deserved integration of this hotel into the Pestana Hotels & Resorts brand. Upon entering the Pestana Fisherman Village – Boutique Hotel, you will immediately notice its vaulted ceilings and the original stones, recently discovered, that enrich the style of the most contemporary of decors. A welcoming environment in light tones where dark blue is the main theme. There are several rooms in which to enjoy the space, as well as a library, but one’s attention is drawn to the sound of water from the cloister fountain, producing an atmosphere of calm. On the rooftop, there is a swimming pool with a panoramic view for guests. There are 3 room types available, but they all have the comfort and charm of a very special invitation letter from Ernest Hemingway replicated on the bed headrests. Whether for a romantic visit or a family trip, the Pestana Fisherman Village – Boutique Hotel is a good option for your stay.
Very nice hotel, nice room with really nice furniture, perfect breakfast, really kind and helpful staff in reception - specially Mariana Silva (thanks a lot again). Room was big, cleaned every day - view from window to the street with restaurants and bars. Really nice place to stay for honeymoon for young couple :)

Fantastic apartments. Quiet. Very clean they look newly decorated. All mod cons. Even has its own swimming pool. Its a good 25min bus journey from Funchal but it worth the journey. Bus to Funchal is Rodoeste No 137 just up from the bar at the top of the road, remember it the opposite side to the UK. To catch the bus back to the villa, get the 137 bus outside the big white building with the cannons opposite to where all the yellow hop on hop off buses stop. This country is beautiful can't wait to come back.

My husband and I stayed here for a week for my birthday in February. Upon arrival our check-in was quick and efficient, reception staff always very friendly, attentive and helpful. Room was beautiful, some may say a little dated but we liked the vibe as it is a vintage hotel after all. Room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and replenished toiletries when needed. Breakfast was nice, good selection, wasn't ever as hot as I'd like but still nice none the less - plenty eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, cheeses, hams, cakes etc. Hotel is located close to a supermarket and bus stop but we found it easier to use the local Uber service. We ate at the hotel for dinner one evening and can not fault the food at all, absolutely beautiful with beyond top quality service. Close enough to visit Funchal city by bus or taxi but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet. Fantastic views and lovely flowers. Would definitely recommend this holiday.

After having initially read a negative review of this accommodation, I was wary to book here. But as had planned various hikes in the area we needed accommodation so we decided to take a chance. And boy, am I glad that we did. Our experience was NOTHING like the negative feedback left. We stayed 1 week in the 2 bedroom apartment (four of us) with a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains. Our hosts could not do enough for us, they were super friendly and accommodating for all our extra requests as we are serious hikers. The apartment was very clean and had all the necessary facilities. At the entrance to the building is a lovely little coffee shop/snack bar that made some amazing sandwiches for our hikes. I also recommend that you visit the local supermarket if you want to purchase any local made liquors. A wonderful, comfortable stay in Curral das Freiras with superhosts Melissa and Manny.

We had a trip to Camara de Lobos, Madeira. The apartment was booked through Booking.com. A small flat with amazing view over the sea. After arrival we realized that something is going on next door - a major renovation. We were told that it is just simple things and painting. Our concern is that the next people visiting the apartment will face the same problem. Please raise the voice to prevent such unhealthy business!
