Sevagram Ashram

Reviewed By Pahari - Mumbai

This ashram , just a few kilometres from Wardha and a one and a half hours drive from Nagpur is where Gandhiji lived for almost a decade. It provides a wonderful insight into the philosophy of the Mahatma, simple living, great thinking. Steeped in history, the mud and wood structures are airy and cool . In the centre of the cluster is a small maidan where prayers are held every day.The guides here are excellent.
Diagonally across the road outside is a photographic exhibition on the life of Gandhiji. And across the lawn here is a small canteen where one can have a very simple, tasty meal.

Bor Wild Life Sanctuary

Reviewed By prakashdeo1234 - Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India

Because of teak wood forest having foliage during April-June, with dry grass land around lake, having a major source of drinking water, visibiliity is too good to sight wild life. Apart from spotted deers and Sambhars, we could see many blue bulls, two herds of wild dog, herds of wild bores and a sloth bear. And icing on the cake was a young female tigress (15 months) from just 10 feet and could watch her for almost 15 minutes walking over a hillock. This tigress is daughter of "Ketrina" famous in this area who has recently gave births to 4 kids. A small forest but with good animal sighting, just 65 kms from Nagpur

Aptly named vishwa shanti stupa, is a very peaceful and calm place. The atmosphere of the place makes one relax and forget all worries, It is amongst the top 3 places to visit in wardha. finding it was difficult as there are no signages leading to it. Even on the door, the name is mentioned in fine print. Best time to visit in 5-6 pm, which is the prayer timings.

What a privilege it was to visit this place where Gandhiji stayed ! It is simple, but very well maintained. We could see the room where Bapu had stayed, where Kasturba Gandhi stayed. The atmosphere is serene, and just standing at the square where Bapuji used to conduct the prayers filled me with peace. Feel very lucky to have visited.

Gandhi Hill

Located slightly on the outskirt of the city, this is great place for hangouts with families and friends. One can experience a beautiful view and pleasant environment from the top. A beautiful sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi with Charkha(spinning wheel) and three wise monkeys is point of attraction here. The three wise monkeys clearly represents the principle "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". This is also an ideal place for someone wishing to take a walk, jogging, meditation, yoga etc.

Geetai Mandir Temple

Reviewed By Pravin G

The Remarkable thing about this temple is the eighteen sections of Bhagavad Gita are etched on the slabs and are arranged vertically in the shape of a cow. And moreover, this temple doesn't represent any deity nor does it have roofs. In the vicinity of temple, there is beautiful park surrounded by trees where people usually come to take a walk, jogging, and meditation. Also there is place called 'Shanti Kuti' where an exhibition depicting the life of Jamnalal Bajaj, Acharya Vinoba Bhave and Mahatma Gandhi is portrayed.

Kishor Nivas

Reviewed By PPCI-BG - Italy
