The director Guillermo Andrés García Aguirre provided an introduction to the stellar configurations, planets (Jupiter and Saturn), globular clusters, and Milky Way visible on the Southern Sky. Nearby to the observatory we were lying on our back to view the sky. Meanwhile, Guillermo pointed with a laser at triangles of stars that form or are part of a stellar configuration. He spoke in Spanish and English for an audience of Spanish and English speaking people, with excellent pace and contagious enthusiasm. Guillermo and one of his staff members had positioned two Celestron-like telescopes to view planets and deep sky objects like globular clusters. Jupiter and his four moons were visible, and also Saturn and his rings. With a Ph.D. on stellar evolution and having done astronomical observations at the European Southern Observatory at La Silla in Chile, I was delighted about Guillermo's excellent introduction to the Southern Sky, and his knowledge of stellar evolution and astrophysics in general. My wife and I enjoyed the visit and speaking afterwards with Guillermo. Guillermo is an enthusiastic photographer of deep sky objects and is willing to send you photos via Whatsapp using the nickname Astro William.
