We are on Boston’s North Shore a few times a year and regardless of the season always tend to make our way to Preston Beach, especially in the warmer months. Our last visit to the area was in August and we went to Preston Beach twice! Right on the border of Marblehead and Swampscott, Preston Beach is a great, smaller, family friendly beach. I say smaller because when it is high tide the water comes right to the edge of the beach so we always plan our visit based on the tides! This past August we went mid-morning and stayed right up until the tide pushed us to the rocks, about a little over three hours. If in the area it is always worth a visit; when we were in the area for Thanksgiving last year my nephew and I even ventured out for twenty minutes to take in the scenery and have a rock throwing competition, cold wind and all!

Tour the home where Mary Baker Eddy (the founder of Christian Science) experienced the healing through prayer that would bring great changes to her life, and to the lives of many others. She was brought here the morning after a fall on an icy sidewalk in nearby Lynn in February 1866. Although it looked as though the effects of the accident would prove fatal, she found herself suddenly healed while reading a New Testament account of one of Jesus' healings. The profound insight she glimpsed at that moment led to a fresh understanding of the Bible and to her discovery of Christian Science.Guided tours May 1-October 31, Thursday - Saturday 10 am-4 pm, Sunday 1-4 pm. November 1-April 30 by appointment. Tours are paired with the Mary Baker Eddy Historic House in Lynn, MA. Tours begin in Swampscott. $10.00 suggested donation for both tours.
