We took the Skyrail cart up in the morning then back down to Cairns Central Station via the Scenic Railway Train in the afternoon. In this way, we maximized the time to visit Kuranda Village. We had the Diamond View Skyrail cart - looking down to see the treetop, looking around into the deep rainforest, looking far far away to the Great Barrier Reef, the experience was amazing, like the 3D movie Avatar.

Cable Ski Cairns

This is a unique cable-driven water skiing park that my son tried twice during our recent vacation. It's mostly used by locals, but is open to anyone and they treated us fine, so I'd like to review it. It's a good spot for active teens and older kids who want to do things rather than sightsee.

Great fun, different prices for 1 hour up to the whole day. Took a few attempts but eventually gained my lake legs. Great instructions at the entry point and continuous ropes means your time does go so fast. Just remember not to fall off at western end of the lake, bit of a walk back. Really enjoyable and so much fun.

We took the sky rail to Kuranda, checked out the markets and had a little lunch, walked by the river, very pretty and then returned on the Kuranda Rail, met by a bus and back to our car. The Kuranda Rail really is a Not to be missed experience, fabulous view, wonderful historic commentary and a great experience by the spectacular views and waterfalls.

We went there for a 7:30 session movie on Saturday evening (Bohemian Rhapsody) - well worth the watch in cinema No.6 second large cinema in complex with great sound and big screen. First time visit since cinema has been built and it’s quiet a modern place. Great location, ease of parking. Friendly staff with plenty of cinema goodies for sale. Reasonable ticket prices. Good range of restaurants down stairs. Really nice seats where you can lean backwards a little bit for comfort with plenty of leg and space to neighbouring seats .Clean toilets.
