Parking lot is small but when we came here on a Monday morning at 10ish, we had it all to ourselves. There is a free telescope so you can see a lot. Mid-day will prob be the best time to stop here. There are other better views so if you're pressed for time, skip this one. The view is pretty nonetheless.

Philip Foster's Farm was a welcome sight to travelers on the Barlow Road, finally reaching civilization after 6 months on the Oregon Trail. Today it connects visitors to that era and the many families whose lives were changed by emigration to Oregon, through original and reproduction buildings and hands-on activities for all ages.
Wonderful preserved house and farm from pioneer days. This was the rest stop for people coming across the Oregon Trail before they journeyed a little father to Oregon City. An original wagon from the Trail, all sorts of kitchen wares, furniture, beds, farm equipment, and much, much more. This is a real step back in time.

August 23, 2107 - We decided to take the ultra scenic 1 hour or more drive to Dalles.
We took I-84 eastbound to the Troutdale exit. Follow signs for the Scenic Loop drive. Then, we followed the drive along the old Columbia River Highway, the first in our nation to be named a National Historic Landmark. On this route we encountered breathtaking views of the Columbia Gorge, Mount Hood and several other famous waterfalls on our way to the Multnomah Falls parking area.
We were surprised and delighted at the Latourell Falls, the first waterfall we came upon during our leisurely drive on Route 30. Optimum viewing is only a short walk from the parking area although it is a steep hill to climb. But, the walk is worth the vista.

A historical highway built as the first paved road in the Northwestern portion of Oregon.
This is a sight not to be missed when visiting Oregon. Especially at Sunset. I live close and feel blessed to have such a wonderful getaway. It is on the Old Columbia River Hwy which leads to another steller sight, Multnomah Falls. Be advised that unfortunately due to a large fall forest fire the sight is closed at least until spring due to dangerous rock slides. So if you are planning a summer trip hopefully things will open up. It's a one of a kind scenic view of the mighty Columbia River Gorge with some great history.

My wife and I stopped for a restroom break and decided to check out this little museum and visitors center. It's small but worth it. Fascination history of the local area. The gal at the front desk was also full of local knowledge and recommended some great hikes we went on in the area. Great stop for history and local knowledge.

My son noticed the sign for Rainbow Trout farm and having experienced a similar farm elsewhere REALLY wanted to go. The farm is beautifully landscaped, almost like an arboretum. There are many ponds stocked with differing sized fish that are easy to catch. My son caught 4 fish in about 30 minutes, enough for everybody in the family. They even cleaned the fish for us. A very nice place. Probably not for the sportsman, but awesome for kids or adults that just never got into fishing!

It's an odd structure, a stone octagon in "German art nouveau" style.
It's located along the historical Columbia River Highway and gives a panoramic, view of the Columbia River Gorge. It's atop Crown Point, a former highway rest stop built in 1917. At night, the lights that illuminates the building gives it a crown-shaped view when it is viewed from afar. That makes it unique and spectacular. A must visit place when one takes a tour of the Columbia River Gorge

If you are looking for top notch rentals of downhill skis, snowboards, cross-country skis and snowshoes, you are in the right place! Renting skis and snowboards from Meadowlark Ski & Snowboards will save you time and money!. In business for over 30 years, Meadowlark Ski & Snowboards started with the philosophy of putting you, our customer, first. Our focus is getting you on the mountain quickly
This is a great ski area with reasonable lift ticket prices. You can save even more if you go online and purchase mid-week lift tickets. Also, rental skis are available at a reduced rate and you can provide the ski rental shop with your information online so that you can reduce the whole rental process. Seems like a well kept secret in regards to good skiing in comparison to Colorado or Utah. I have skied in 8 states including several Colorado and Utah resorts, and this is as good of skiing as any that I have experienced.
