Customised Stewart Island Tours and pick-up/drop-off from any and all locations. Operating 7am - 11pm or by arrangement.
Super friendly owner/driver, very prompt service - and a mine of information about the island. And at the end of the Rakiura Track - boy, were we pleased to see him and spare ourselves a long walk back to town!

We are two adventure guides that have a passion for freediving and conservation. We want to take you on an expedition in the Stewart Island Kelp Forests to view diverse and beautiful marine life. Learn about biodiversity, history and conservation of Rakiura, while following a theme of sustainability and effective ocean management . We will be visiting fragile, pristine, and undisturbed natural areas, ensuring we make zero impact by operating a small scale alternative to standard mass tourism.

Enjoy a leisurely cruise of beautiful Paterson Inlet, viewing hidden coves and beaches including a visit to the Ulva Island – a renowned wildlife sanctuary. An on-board nature guide provides commentary throughout the cruise and leads a 45 minute walk through part of the Ulva Island. This island is home to abundant birdlife, including some of New Zealand’s most rare and precious plant species. Departs: Oban. (Previously named Paterson Inlet Cruises).

After a gruelling hike from Mason Bay to Freshwater River early in our stay on Stewart Island, we were up for a less strenuous activity and signed up for Dave's workshop to make ourselves a piece of pounamu. From start to finish we were enthralled, from picking out our stone to coming up with a design to shaping it into the final product. I have absolutely no artistic skills whatsoever but managed to come up with a piece that I am very happy to wear and that will always bear a special meaning for having been made by me (with Dave's help...) during a fantastic holiday on Stewart Island. Very worthwhile!

This short walk is ideal with families... it was relatively easy, scenic, and protected. It was short enough that my husband did the Ryan's Creek track right afterwards since they were right next to each other.
