Stover is a lovely place, full of walkways, nature and views...however the parking is expensive considering you could walk around the lake in 20 minutes. There are a number of better walks in the area with free parking, but like I’ve said the place itself is lovely.

Some friend recommended this place as being good for children so we met up with our friends and went to Decoy for the afternoon.
It was VERY busy, so much so that we couldn't get a parking space so we parked over the road, a short two mins walk away. There is a good water splash area for the kids to play. Our group had a good couple of hours in the water area and then they played on the adventure playground equipment. We saw that kayaking and SUP were available at reasonable prices, although we simply ran out of time to try them.
There are toilets and an ice cream/snack hut too serving all the usual cans and iced etc at fair prices. Well work a visit!

This long established farm animal petting attraction, here at prickly ball farm we rescue, rehabilitate, and release our native hedgehog back to the wild once they are fit and well, All the good work that we do here is all self funded, so your entrance fee is directly supporting our hedgehog care. We have a cafe serving fresh barista coffee, many teas also serving breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas and an amazing selection of cake!!!!!! The cafe can be used without paying an entrance.
We a family of 5 adults & 3 teenagers had a great time in this wonderful animal farm. The weather was poor, heavy showers/wind, but did not distract from the happy atmosphere created by a variety of creatures. The intro between the hedge hogs, staff & visitors prompted questions from children of all ages genuinely concerned over the animals well being. There is a varied selection of animals from Alpacas, ponies, long eared rabbits to pot bellied pigs etc. There is a covered play barn/giant slide and a refreshments room. The site does have gentle undulations which may be an issue for some people, however plenty of hand rails are provided.Worth a visit, good interaction, who knows you may choose to adopt a hedge hog.

The volunteers here are very friendly and knowlegeable. I spent time looking at displays of notable Newtonians including John Lethbridge the early diving pioneer. There is also a WWI display and other items. For me the GWR room is the highlight as the railway has been very important in the development of Newton Abbot. The room is packed with artifacts from the early days of the South Devon Railway, the GWR and then the Western Region of BR. There is a lot of signalling equipment to see as well as locomotive models.

Camping is not helpful with keeping things pristine but the toilet blocks here are amazing everyday even with horrible weather they are very very clean. The lady that's cleans them is really friendly and a credit to the site she works ever so hard on maintain the exceptional standards always accomodatingly helpful only closing the urinals while cleaning which I think is a small price to pay for these beautifully clean toilets. The pool is small but lovely and warm unfortunately most people cannot read the signs no jumping diving inflatables etc as this spoils the experience when children jump on you while swimming. The shop is well stocked but can but expensive but it is a small shop on a site so what do you expect.

Huge shopping centre featuring end of lines etc that we thought we would visit as it was a rainy day. Wanted to eat so firstly tried the light and airy large upstairs restaurant. This was very clean and we tried the roast of the day (chicken) which was good value and served by a friendly member of staff demonstrating her ability to serve two portions at once. The meal was delicious and I have never had a meal served at such a hot temperature before. Well done!
We then visited the shopping areas, some a little tatty and tired but we found a few items to purchase and it was enjoyable to see the vast array of items to choose from. Took our purchases back to our car in the free car parking area and then bought a cake and drink and decided to look for a pleasant spot to eat them. Walked through to the garden centre which has some display Gardens at the rear which are a hidden gem as this section was almost totally deserted despite the weather having improved dramatically. We sat on a bench in this area for a very pleasant interlude. A vast amount must have been spent on this area of mini Gardens and hard landscaping but we only found it by accident as we saw no signs promoting this lovely section. As we left we walked past the miniature steam train, one of the attractions to keep kids happy.

Plant World's four acres of landscaped hilltop Gardens representing each of the five continents has been called Devon's 'little outdoor Eden' and has featured on national TV.Rare exotic plants can be bought in the plant nursery. Parking, picnic area and nursery entry are all free whilst a modest garden entry charge is made for adults. The modern café serving light lunches, home-made cakes and espresso coffee has absolutely fantastic panoramic views. Open April-September inc.
We had a discount voucher from gardeners world so decided to visit. Well for £3 per person, on this occasion £3 for two, what an amazing find, although it's nearly the end of the season, it was incredible, perched on a hillside with the most amazing views, the paths enabled a person to take their time without any need to rush, how wonderful to see plants would be left to self seed, how wonderful the garden wasn't manicured to an inch of its life, we bought a couple of plants which were reduced, so let's hope they thrive. It was possible to feel the love that went into setting up this garden. Stopped and had coffee and cake, mmmm lovely, the toilets were the cleanest I had ever seen. May you thrive and prosper

We have been using Austins for years now - especially the kitchen shop where, over the years, we have got some excellent bargains. In common with John Lewis stores, the staff are exceptionally courteous and helpful.
