The original church burned and rebuilt in 1700. This over 300 yeard old church is mainly open in summertime and not used as a traditional church. If you visit the town, you might feel interested in more details of this building as it has a very long history. I have seen the church daily for decades so I used to be very used to it, but know when visiting, it has to be shown to children. Recommend for couples and family with smaller children.

I just love this island! We took the 10 min short boat trip from Kaskinen to the island of Sälgrund. There is no regular boat traffic there, but a fairly cheap boat taxi that you can ask to bring you there whenever you want to go. A short walk through the forest and there was the majestic lighthouse and a yard with old wooden huts and the old pilot station.
We did not spend the night, but you can stay there in a very authentic old house, and it is relatively cheap. So we are definitely returning for that another time. Also the big sauna of the island is fabulous. Amazing views over the cliffs to the open sea. The couple who runs the place is very friendly, and they were very helpful during our visit.

When we arrived at the museum, it was already 3PM but the museum staff informed us that we can still visit the museum. The ticket price was very cheap, €4 for adult & €1 for children.
Two best part about the museum were the collections and also the guide. Our guide was very enthusiast when he gave us the tour (not sure if he's a tour guide, but surely his explanation let us entertained for the next 1 hour). We asked many things and he explained a complete history of Kristiinankaupunki in the old days as water front city in the medieval time.
It's located in top of library building.

This is a very old town with a lot of buildings worth looking at and exploring. There is a shoe store on the main street well worth going into for its huge selection and the two high heel shoe chairs which are great for taking pictures of with friends

The complex has a beautiful garden and 4 different buildings.
There's old building which used to be the storage building for salt. The salt was taken from Spain to supply the domestic needs. Kristiinankaupunki used to be one of the ports for salt trading.
There's one building which we think is currently used for private usage, because there was no marking and the door was closed.
The other 2 buildings are museum and cafe. Didn't manage to go to the cafe because we were just having lunch that day.
The museum building was used to be the main house of the salt trader family. From the interior design, you can see that the family were able to afford the famous hand painted wall paper with different colors, including black & gold, also they were able to afford the red painted building which was coming from Swedish culture to Finland.
The main house has 2 storey. Each floor has several different rooms, including master bedroom, children bedroom, working room, dining room, kitchen, maiden room etc. you can also see some of the accessories from the old days, including jewelry, sewing & kruistik equipment, beautiful rusty scissors, pipes collection, etc.
There was entrance fee, but I honestly forgot the exact price. If I'm not mistaken, for adult the fee was under €10. You can borrow the map of the house and return the map on the way out. We spent around 30-60 minutes with the collection. Not a very time for the boy, but it was good for the boy for the first 20 minutes.
