Dog sledding is the best way of experiencing the Arctic nature. Let us take you on a ride to discover a new world. A world of stunning beauty, rugged landscapes and of silence – pure and breath-taking. Drive your own sled or enjoy the ride as a passenger, either way, we promise you the memory of a lifetime. Our lodge lies a short while outside of Alta city centre, surrounded by pristine Arctic nature. A team of huskies will take you out in pairs, as mushers or passengers, riding through the snowy forest and on the ice that covers the famous Alta River. There’s no better way of getting close to nature than this. While the huskies love to run in frigid temperatures, we’ll equip you with a thermal suit to keep the cold at bay. But don’t fear the winter – bask in its beauty. The frozen landscape is like nothing you’ll ever see, glittering in the sunlight and bathed in shades of blue, pink and purple during the light of the polar night. Welcome to Holmen Husky Lodge.

I passed through Alta on my way to the Nordkapp. This is one of the few UNESCO world heritage sites in Norway and absolutely not to be missed. Take an hour or two and walk down the path from the museum towards the more than 5000 years old stone carvings -- the artistry is really astonishing - and there are lots of carvings ... lots , and lots ! Spend a few quid extra for the Audio guide the audio descriptions are phenomenal and make for the best experience.

Amazing dinner. We had the finnbiff, schnitzel and bidus. Also had multekrem for dessert. Everything was delicious. Prices reasonable. Ambiance was also lovely. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

I am completely non-religious, but I like to visit churches in the Nordic countries. The rather new church is really very particular and unusual. There is a small entrance fee and you can also purchase a ticket for the very interesting Northern Lights Museum in the basement of the church.
