Historic plantation house restoration. Original buildings on site include the kitchen, doctor's office, cool house, Nina's wing, a tool shed, a hot house, and summer houses (gazebos) throughout the gardens. The gift shop stays open from 9am - 4:30pm and is independently run. Rosedown does not provide over night accommodations and there is no restaurant on site. Hours of operation are from 9am-5pm seven days a week. The first house tour is at 10am and the last house tour is at 4pm. Closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.
Walking up to the house and seeing the layout of the gardens and the long driveway surrounded by large oak trees was magnificent. One can take a wonderful photo of the grounds from the second floor balcony. We were met by a guide dressed in a dress from the 1800’s. The house has been lovely restored and has 90% of the original furniture. Note the magnificent mahogany suitcase as you enter. The guide gave us a story of the original family and what happened to the house before the State acquired it. It is well worth the visit. As you are going thru the historical area of St. Francisville to get this plantation stop at Grandmother’s Buttons located in an old bank. It was begun by a couple that created jewelry from old buttons and now includes many other things. It’s very unique.

A group of 4 of us stopped in for a tour. Because of various circumstances, the tour was not guided, but there was a volunteer close by to answer questions. We were given a great pamphlet that pointed out and explained various rooms/furnishings, etc throughout the house. We actually liked this set up. It's a very interesting place with beautiful grounds.

Experience antebellum splendor in this circa 1796 National Historic Register plantation home renowned for its mystery, history and intrigue. Our recently opened Restaurant 1796 is a beautiful blend of the old and the new, centered around an open hearth.
Came with my fiancé and my family. We had a great time and our tour guide Haley (unsure how to spell her name) was awesome at telling the history of the house and the ghosts that are on the grounds! We had a 7pm tour and that was the best decision. It was getting dark and the whole vibe was super spooky and fun. I’ll definitely come here again in the daytime to compare the two! All around a great trip and a wonderful tour.

This was our first time to visit Butler Greenwood and we will do it again! The grounds are beautiful and Ann was the best! We stayed in the Pond house and it was perfect fit for our visit. Breakfast was in the fridge so we didn't need to rush out for food our first morning. Two of the sweetest ladies came to check on us to see if we needed anything our first morning there. If you're looking for a laid back place this location is perfect for you. We had a blast!

This site is smaller and doesn't get the attention it deserves. The docents told fascinating stories about a young Audubon, before he became famous. I recommend a visit

Grace Episcopal Church, built in 1860 and rebuilt in 1893 after the Union caused heavy damage in 1863, is one of the state's oldest surviving Protestant churches. Great Oak trees, dripping with Spanish moss, surround and provide shade to the church and its grounds. The organ inside dates to 1860 and there are lovely stained glass windows.

The grounds were gorgeous and the house itself was beautiful as well. We arrived during a storm and even then everything was lit up and pretty. The tour of the plantation comes with a stay at the hotel and it was nice to hear the history from someone who knows Louisiana inside and out. The upstairs of the plantation home is blocked off due to the owners still living in it, which was disappointing but understandable. The homemade breakfast was delicious and filling and the cook was as sweet as could be. My favorite part of the experience was that a cat showed up and followed us around as if he was a tour guide.

The historic St. Francisville United Methodist Church features Gothic Revival stained glass windows and a bell tower. A lovely little church.
