9 Neighborhoods in Kowloon That You Shouldn't Miss

May 22, 2021 Renato Branum

Delectable dim sum, floating islands, and a one-of-a-kind skyline are just some of Hong Kong’s unique features. Get an eyeful of traditional Chinese architecture in Ngong Ping village, then take the tram to the tippity-top of Victoria Peak for unparalleled views. The rocks and gentle hills of Nan Lian Garden will bring you inner peace, as will a calming cup of tea in a Stanley café. Become one with everything at the Chi Lin Nunnery, a serene Buddhist complex.

Tsim Sha Tsui

This major tourist hub is complete with many shops and landmark, such as the Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower. Some call this area Hong Kong's equivalent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

It’s a shopping district with various choices on food, among other stuffs. You can definitely do window shopping here, and it is worth mentioning that this is the place where some of the HK museums are located (e.g HK Space Museum)

Knutsford Terrace

One of my favourite places in Hong Kong. Has a vibe all it’s own, devoid of the cliche and sleaze of the Wan Chai strip, and the all night party atmosphere of LKF. Casual, cozy (especially in the winter), plenty of food options. A hidden gem! Each bar has unique happy hour deals, be sure to check them out! People who complain about it being dirty are probably not used to outdoor casual bar type venues, and would probably be more at home at Ozone or Armani with five star service and decor, but also drinks that cost three to four times as much.

The are many faces to Hong Kong, many of them are not on Nathan road, or Causeway bay. the district of Sham Shui Po comprises of many street each one with it's own special feeling; button street, ribbon street, bead street ... Even if you are not looking for anything in particular, it is still enjoyable to walk up and down the streets and window shop. We found a wonderful jewelry and stone shop and for about $300 walked out with 3 pearl and semi precious necklaces and 3 bracelets. There is also a electronics street, where you can find original and cheap versions of a wide variety of items.
