Panboola Wetlands

We rode from merimbula to Panboola - lovely flat and safe cycle along the airstrip, golf course, oyster tasting. Panboola with the kangaroos (loafs of them!) was great particularly around the old racetrack. Finished up at one of the cafes in Pambula - lovely way to spend 2-3hrs with the kids

Tathra Memorial Gardens Walk

Finally you're now able to walk along the ocean front walk. It is amazing. The views are great and it gives you access that was lost when the old road was washed away. It's only taken 45 years, but finally you can again walk to the wharf from the pub alongside the ocean....

Short Point Recreation Reserve

Perfect place to go and chill out to watch the view or read or have a picnic. So relaxing and beautiful. Walk on the rocky shore or the sandy beach, your choice. We got to see a pod of dolphins swim not far from the shoreline which was a bit of a highlight.

Went on a night tour the other night. Absolutely fantastic experience. Don't know where to start! So amazing to experience Betongs and Potaroos prancing around our feet in one enclosure while Gliders did their thing overhead and stared at us at a very close range. Tawny Frogmouth whooshed past my ear on his way to a better view of us. I've lived in the area since 1996 and have been coming to this sanctuary regularly for many years, when it was still a wildlife park, and had only ever seen the tiniest bit of a wombat's bottom. Well, this time one of the wombats strolled right over to the fence and had a good look at us, sat down and thought about it all for a bit and then strolled off once we'd all had a good look at each other. Wonderful. So much info and chatting with the keepers which was great. Small group and very sociable. Trevor the possum another long time resident who I've never seen either in the many years he's been here. He was sitting, waiting for us to arrive and admire him. Lots of other interesting, fun and informative features. Will definitely go again and take my visitors and can absolutely recommend this sanctuary anytime, not just the night tour.

Bournda National Park

Reviewed By mandydora - Sydney, Australia

This place is a hidden gem, we were told about the lagoon by a local cashier at a shop in Bega. Although a little chilly on the day we visited, the water in the lagoon was a bit warmer than the ocean and we spent a lovely few hours paddling around in the calm water. Perfect for kids and a great spot for kayaking or canoeing. We walked along the beach which is absolutely beautiful. We would love to come back on a day when we have more time so we can enjoy the experience for longer.
