June 2, 2021 Enedina Augsburger

Parc du Champ de Mars

Reviewed By 750dimitrisl - Sydney, Australia

Parc du Champ de Mars is a huge park just before the Eiffel Tower. You get a superb view of it from the top of the Tower. It is great for walks and meeting people as well as a picnic or anything people can think of. It was named after the Campus Martius in Rome which in turn was dedicated to Mars the god of War. The naming has probably something to do with the fact that just at the other end of the park is the Ecole Militaire, a large complex of buildings used by the army. It was constructed in the second half of the 18th century and the army used to hold training sessions in this park.
