After the bush fires of over 12 months back, Bald Rock National Park is recovering. Eucalypts are starting to branch out after sprouting along their trunks and native herbs are flowering in high Summer. We took the longer walk to the summit through swathes of new growth. Despite claimed as 3 hours one way we were there in an hour. There's a bit of clambering to be done near the end but all manageable for folks of average fitness. We didn't traverse the short, steep section. The track is well maintained and a credit to the NPWS. We had read it cost $7 for a day visit. This, we discovered, is now $8. Well worth the price.

We had been walking up in Bald Rock National Park and decided to dropped into Boonoo Boonoo NP on our way back to Tenterfield. It is an easy 14km 2x2 wheel drive over dirt road to the end. Along the way you pass a turn off to a picnic area and a little further there is the camping ground. Unfortunately the area had been badly affected in the bush fires and was only just getting some new foliage. There is a covered picnic area and drop toilet at the end. We walked down the short track to the lookout overlooking the spectacular falls. There had been a bit of recent rain so the falls were running a bit. The view over the gorge is stunning and well worth seeing. On the way to the lookout there is a track to the left which takes you a short distance down to a spectacular water hole in the river. Access to the water is easy. There is also a river walk which runs between the camp ground and the lookout.

Private 10 acre show gardens available for events, weddings & workshops. Also open to the public on one of our many open garden days. See website events calendar for scheduled dates and details. This venue is the perfect setting for any event, be it a garden wedding, a workshop or even a garden tour. The gardens are exquisite, a photographer’s paradise, and include many differing garden rooms and water views. There is ample parking space and all sizes of buses can be accommodated as well. Onsite are the following features: Nursery, restrooms and refreshments.
We were lucky enough to get a booking for a 7-course degustation they held over Easter. The food was amazing and the gardens were stunning in their Autumn blush. This was our second trip out to see the gardens and I am looking forward to coming again in the spring.

There are several parks in Tenterfield but we very much enjoyed our visit to Jubilee Park which is centrally located to the town centre, showgrounds and railway museum. The park offers a large covered children's playground, picnic and barbecue facilities, toilet amenities, loads of shade and grassy places to sit or play a game. The main feature of the park, which I imagine the park got its name from, is the ornate historical rotunda. A pathway leads up to the steps of the rotunda, by the steps is a foundation stone which states it was laid on the 22nd of November 1921 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Municipality of Tenterfield. The building has been lovingly kept and maintained and would make for an ideal place for celebratory photographs, for example, wedding. The park is a short walk away from the town centre and there is plenty of on street parking.
