9 Nature & Parks in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District) That You Shouldn't Miss

September 1, 2021 Marianna Hollaway

Montreal, c’est si bon! This French-speaking city is considered the cultural capital of Canada, and is a cosmopolitan celebration of Québécois style. A horse-drawn carriage ride around the cobblestone streets and grand buildings of Vieux-Montréal will give you a taste of European flavor. The Basilique Notre-Dame is a confection of stained glass, and the Plateau Mont-Royal district will delight you with its quaint boutiques and cafés. Dig in to a massive plate of poutine to fuel up for a tour of the epic Olympic Park.

Very big park. There are a lot (really a lot) of places to make a picnic with everything ready for you - tables and bbq. There is a big lake in the middle of the park. You can see fishes and a lot of different birds around. I even took a picture of a heron. We like to go there and walk around the like, make a small picnic with bbq. There are also 2 playgrounds for children. Free big parking if you go from boulevard Verendrye. Really a good park to go if you are not far. Recommend to all.

Ile Notre-Dame Beach

The swimming beach is an oasis, with clear, filtered river water and an inviting stretch of lawn and trees; it's often filled to capacity in summer, however. Lifeguards are on duty, a shop rents swimming and boating paraphernalia, and there are picnic areas and a restaurant. COST: $7.50. Métro: Parc Jean-Drapeau.
