Veteran's Memorial Park

I would have killed to have lived close to an awesome park like this when my kids were little. Just huge - with tons of free parking. We saw: BMX track, 2 skate parks, duck ponds, water spouts for small kids, dog park, jungle gym, baseball fields, picnic tables, volleyball courts and I think a soccer field. All beautifully maintained. Tons of natural grass and beautiful trees. Way to go Boulder City!

We took a round trip tour of Las Vegas, or if you are going to the Grand Canyon it is very worthwhile to know this gigantic and impressive dam is located between the states of Nevada and Arizona, in the city of Boulder City, about 50km from Las Vegas. , the size of the dam is huge, it dams the huge Lake Mead (Lake Mead National Recreation Area), the contrast between the water and the desert region is beautiful, these waters aided the development of the city of Las Vegas, you pass through this grand before arriving at Hoover Dam. And for those who enjoy cinema, it's worth mentioning that the movies Superman (1978), Transformers (2007) and Earthquake: The San Andreas Fault (2007) had scenes shot at Hoover Dam. We went by car, There are paid parking and free parking on site, to access the free parking, just go over the dam by car, and access the sites, before the dam has a paid parking building. Admission to the dam is free but controlled and the trick is to stop by the road to take pictures of the most beautiful spots on Lake Mead and the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge until you reach the large parking pockets of Hoover Dam. Nevada-side, Arizona-side parking both cost $ 10 per vehicle, but those who don't mind walking a little further can go on to the smaller parking lots that are free. After parking your car, you can explore the Hoover Dam outside for free, or take one of the tours to visit the inner areas more deeply. Another attraction is crossing the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Bridge through the pedestrian platform: Be sure to cross the bridge (on foot and by car) the experiences are different and complementary. It was very interesting the tour, which yielded impressive photos.

Hemenway Park

I’m so glad I discovered this park while researching our trip on trip advisor! It’s a great little park all in it’s own. We stopped by in the morning and kids played on the playground and my husband and I meandered around and enjoyed the views of Lake Mead. No big horn sheep were around. After a full day exploring the Hoover dam, we decided to stop back and were so glad we did! The big horn sheep were grazing in the grass and I was surprised how close they came to us! We did not disturb them at all, but they were fun to watch for a bit!

Boulder Beach Campground (Lake Mead National Recreation Area)

Reviewed By KMVV - Pennsylvania, United States

We, now being senior citizens and armed with our lifetime senior pass, rented our site in the campground at Boulder Beach for $10 per night. Even at the full price of $20 it is well worth a stay. There are no hookups for RVs in the campground and sites are first come first served. Sites are easy to get into, level and paved. There are water stations throughout the loops and a restroom in each loop. There are no showers, however. Restrooms are cleaned daily. There is a dump station and water fill area. The park volunteers are friendly, attentive and very helpful. The park is situated along a miles long paved bike trail and in close proximity to the trailhead for the old train trail to the dam. A wonderful 7.5 mile round trip hike. Boulder City is just a few miles away. The park is gorgeous and there is ample space between units. The weather during our March visit was perfect for hiking and biking.

We hired Capt. Dan of Rogue Hiking to take us on a hike, seeing and learning about the desert, history of Hoover Dam and interesting facts about Lake Mead. Capt. Dan arranged for a driver to pick us up in Las Vegas, then drove to Boulder City for hike and afterwards the driver took us to Hoover Dam. It was a lovely day, the hike was off the path yet, it was easy enough for novice hikers. Capt. Dan told us about the landscaping, workers who had inhabited the area while Hoover Dam was being constructed and other history and facts about the area. Capt. Dan runs a professional company and we will do it again. I would definitely recommend.
