Maryborough Military & Colonial Museum

We visited here recently and we very impressed with the friendly welcome and amount of things there were to see here. Apparently they have something like 11,000 items on display all of which was presented very well. The museum is not huge, but if you like to read everything, you could easily spend a 2-3 hours there. Our children enjoyed the visit and the lady playing the piano was very good.

Excellent historical display. Was a lovely old building. Downstairs had a real olden day smell to it with lovely exposed beams and beautiful old staircase. The exhibits and displays were very interactive and informative. Our kids loved the projector. It was a lovely way to finish our Portside Pass tour with a little tipple of Port. Would definitely recommend . Great value for money.

Wide Bay Hospitals Museum

The Wide Bay Hospital Museum and its members are the custodian for, been preserving and researching the history of Maryborough's early public hospitals since 1991. Along the way a few discoveries have been made about our history. We display items and documents relating to Maryborough's early public general hospitals and maternity hospitals from the 1850's. These relate to the first purpose built public hospital outside Brisbane in 1864 and later the current hospital in 1887. Our displays will enable you to discover Maryborough's public hospitals progression in order to meet the needs of the ever-changing community from it's early settlement. The displays include photos, building plans, old medial equipment. The Hospital Museum is located in the 1928 built, heritage listed building in the hospital grounds.
