Chios (/ˈkaɪ.ɒs/; Greek: Χίος, translit. Híos; Ancient Greek: Χίος, translit. Khíos) is the fifth largest of the Greek islands, situated in the Aegean Sea, 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) off the Anatolian coast. The island is separated from Turkey by the Chios Strait. Chios is notable for its exports of mastic gum and its nickname is the Mastic Island. This is probably the best and most informative museum I have ever been to in Greece. An absolute recommendation is to pay a visit to this museum as soon as you arrive to Chios. You will get an excellent knowledge of the historic background of the island, the Masticha tradition and will then get more value out of your visit to the different places in the ”Mastochorio” region of the island.

A libary, literally a museum devoted to one of the most famous modern philoshophers of Greece. Lived in France, soaked by the ideas of Jean-Jacques Rousseau and the scripts of Rigas Feraios left en enormous sum of books. Furthermore you can learn the history and ethics of Chios through the occupation of Genoa. There is a room with computers which is mainly a librarian study room.
