From the time the volunteers open the door and say "welcome home" to Visiting the gift shop next door it is an awesome experience. Seeing the home where AA got it's start was humbling. Original furnishings and the highlight was listening to recordings of Dr. Bob and Bill

Hot glass studio and gallery. Demonstrations, workshops, group tours, private parties, glass gifts made on site. Custom lighting and online shopping. The Sanctuary at Akron Glass Works event venue for weddings, parties, corporate events, etc.
We attended a glass blowing class and made two ornaments that could be used on a Christmas tree or displayed all year round. There were lots of colors to choose from. Our instructors, Sebastian and Nate were awesome! They gave good instruction and ensured everyone was safe and made beautiful keepsakes. Well worth the cost of the class!

Welcome to AKRONA Galleries: one of Ohio's most unique art galleries. Serving the Greater Akron Area and abroad; offering custom framing, sculpture, original paintings, blown glass, jewelry & fine art reproductions. With an extensive body of artworks by varying selections of artists—a mixture internationally recognized as well as locally established— we involve ourselves in bringing a knowledge and understanding of art to the community. Since 1990, Akrona Galleries has been providing exceptional art related service and insight; heavily involved in the genesis, appraisal, and curation of both personal and corporate art collections; designing and framing artworks for entire commercial spaces as well as your home. Visit us in store or on our website to learn about upcoming events and gallery rental options, as well as discover everything our gallery has to offer to you and our community. We also have art classes for both adults and children.
This gallery has a wide variety of items from all kinds of local artists in a loosely displayed setting. You will pay for the art, not the show here. Akrona offers a framing service, which is done very professionally, and staff does a good job of making recommendations for the framing and matting choices.

For those of us who read about art in the New York Times this museum is a place to visit. If you want a chance to widen your vantage point on contemporary art by getting a firm intellectual handle on many forms of contemporary or modern art you can do your self a favor by visiting this museum as often possible like three or more times a month. That is what I do to speak with the curators and the other museum people. I attend the lectures with curators who are speaking about various topics often in the library or in the galleries. Two recent presentations took place in the library and the topics were video games as a form of art. Art books illustrating and explaining these video games are written by university people and are well worth reading as text books. Its small size is accommodating in so many obvious ways to make this museum a gold-mine of value commentary about these topics. Lectures by the director took place earlier in the year out-side to discuss a piece of modern sculpture on display there. Questions from the participants with good answers from the director were worth a college level course in art history and related topics to make the subject worth investigation. Discussion finished up inside and there was a lively informative exchange of information there. So often there are small scale programs in the auditorium and elsewhere to make the museum a small display of good things to know. You become recognizable as a frequent participant and begin to accumulate benefits and dividends that make the community more valuable as a center of intellectual topics. Films and lectures and music recitals are presented in many parts of the year sometimes in the evening. At far too many times the volume of the music during receptions and other events is too loud with too much amplification. Like far too much sugar in your drink. These policies should change to prevent people from losing their hearing. If you need to readily acquire a college degree's level of knowledge this might be the place to begin and to accomplish that goal. Library is well worth visiting. Special events like coffee with the curator will allow you to enter the museum early in the schedule of events of the morning and stay for one or more hours for discussing art. Becoming and remaining a member is worth your time and money especially if you join at the ambassador level and gain privileges of reciprocity to visit other museums. This museum can be an intellectual paradise with many dividends. No need to camp out at the coffee shop or snack bar with three picnic baskets and a sleeping bag. Arrange to use the auditorium. Bring a group and stay long enough to see what is on display. In certain galleries there is a need for sitting on a bench or three or more chairs. Viewing the exhibits should not be a standing room only type experience for visitors who need a place to sit down. My relations with the curators and the museum director have been good. The one small gallery in the second floor with shoes in the wall should be changed. It occupies valuable space. Many contemporary artists receive audience here. As an intellectual extension of the local schools of art at the universities and community galleries this museum has done much to improve life here with a lasting contribution to the city's cultural identity.
