The marina is the entry to the island via boat. Airport is also a couple of min away. It's a cute little seaside town with restaurants and shops surrounding it: bakery, fish and chips, Romano's Italian restaurant, tavern, yatch club, icecream shops, pharmacy, IGA with bottle shop and the location for water tours. Water is crystal blue and it's nice to sit looking over the marina eating dinner. Some restaurants were closed which I assume due to COVID but unsure. Only place to buy fresh seafood is the IGA. There is a free bus going to and from the marina to hotels every 10 min. We visited this area a lot when we were here for 4 days. Very clean on the streets. Lots of golf buggies which you can hire and cruise around the island instead of getting a bus or walk (costly though). All staff wonderful! Not one bad encounter which was great.

My husband and I stayed in Great Sandy Straits marina for a week during October 2017. The entry to the Urangun boat harbour is fairly narrow and used by many commercial operators so care is required. The marina has casual berths available, good amenties and easy access to cafes, restaurants and the Hervey Bay boat club. A great place to shelter from strong or northerly winds while in Hervey Bay.

Very posh town Port Douglas. Marina is very nice. When we went most of the businesses were closed until April. Nice drive to get to, very clean, lots of plam trees and free parking space, which is amazing, because we had to pay every other port we parked
