cup of tea is a hostel established in February 2018. There is the chance to mingle with other travelers as well as the local community and participate in the activities seeing local life first hand. This hostel is a convenient base for traveling around Takayama, allowing easy access to the beautiful serene scenery of the countryside in Japan.
We stayed for 2 nights and it was a comfortable stay. It was not difficult to find the hotel. Our room is located on the first floor. It has a private nicely polished wooden staircase that leads to our room. We have booked a triple room with tatami. The room is spacious and clean. The only downside is the distance to the toilet. Toilets are clean. There is a comfortable sitting area with big wooden dining table which is usually occupied. Owners are very friendly and speak good English. It is near to the main tourist spots in Takayama. Glad that we booked this place.

Guest House THANYAPORN offers a family room with 4 single beds with private bathroom. It’s located in 2 mins walk from Takayama station. temporarily closed until Nov 2022.
We stayed 1 night for a stopover at Puy and Junichi’s guest house. They are a welcoming couple. The family is cosy and have 4 beds - large enough for a family of 4. We travelled with our teenagers. The bed are comfortable. Puy and Junichi also run a Thai restaurant next door, we didn’t get a chance to try it. The location is close to Takayama station, a bowling alley, Boss Supermarket and Sugi pharmacy.

Now open an inexpensive priceed guest house with beautiful views of Hida Takayama and the Northern Alps.
We booked double private room. Bathroom and shower were always prefectly cleaned! The room comfortable. They have also a washer and dryer machine... Really usefull! The staff were so kind polite and helpful! The guest house is a little bit far from the center but if you walk not on the main roads the walking path could be also enjoyable. Top:the tables outside! We spent evening outside enjoying the quiet and calm of the night. We suggest it!

Located a 8-minute walk from JR Takayama Station, Guest House Ouka offers accommodation in Takayama. Free WiFi is provided. A shared bath room is located on 1st floor. Guests will find a shared kitchen and a shared lounge at the property. There are 3 computers, lockers and a vending machine for guests' use in the common areas. A washing machine and a clothes dryer are available at a fee.
This is a great place. Clean, very helpful staff and (really) a lot of facilities. We (2 adults; 8yro and 4yro) stayed 2 nights beginning of August. We had a Japanese styled room with private bathroom and toilet. I can praise it further. But I think it is sufficient to say that we would go back instantly if we visit Takayama again in the future.

It is an old private house inn in the unexplored land deep in the mountains between Shirakawa-go and Takayama. It is a real farmhouse old house built 150 years ago and has retained much of its original appearance. You can experience a good old Japanese meal around the fireplace. You can also bring in your own food and cook it.
Our 50 years old Folk Guest House[the host speaks fluent English] has just been all renovated and is located really close to all the sightseeing spots in Takayama. ・「15 minutes walk」from "JR Takayama station" to our house. (you can come through the most famous sightseeing spot "the Old Town" on the way to our house) ・「Only 2 minutes walk」to "the Old Town(Sannomachi)".
