Reviewed By PonyIsland1We spent 6 days in July at Olive Tree Hill, to celebrate our 30th anniversary. This is an authentic, natural experience that I cannot recommend highly enough! Situated just 30 minutes by train outside of Rome, in the lovely medieval town of Zagarolo, Olive Tree Hill is a 5-acre family property where you feel part of the family right from the start. This is the real deal - Ivano and Tehri are warm and genuine, and help you see both the real Rome (I strongly recommend the midnight tour - perfectly safe, and without crowds you can see everything from the well- lit coliseum to a tourist- free Trevi Fountain!) We also explored nearby ancient Roman ruins (Ivano will guide if you like, or will give excellent directions and rides to sites), museums, had lunch in a nearby medieval village after a day of exploration, and then enjoyed a delicious family dinner back home at Olive Tree Hill. We also got excellent advice - from where to see the best Caravaggio paintings in Rome for free, to how to identify *real* gelato. And Ivano and Tehri will tailor your experience to your interests - I would give this 10 stars if I could.

Only 25-30 minutes away from Roma Termini, it is situated on the countryside and offers to explore both city and rural life. Apart from diving into the history of the Eternal City, you can take a walk through ancient ruins of Zagarolo and taste a local wine, whereas the south of the town offers a pilgrim route Via Francigena. The hostel has a variety of rooms, from single ones to four- and eight-bunk bed mixed dorms. Almost each room has a bathroom plus two separate showers, lockers, couple of tables and sofas. If you want some privacy there are a bunch of places to seek solitude. The hostel occupies a vast territory occupied with a garden, terrace, and bamboo forest with hammocks. There is also a swimming pool with several lounges around. Indoors one can find around 30 different game sets, books in different languages, useful manuals for travellers, a guitar and cozy fireplace. In the mornings a hostel serves a fresh breakfast with plenty of fresh fruits and hot coffee. In the evenings you can order drinks and tasteful meal for good prices not even leaving the hostel territory. You can also be a guest to special events like Pasta and Pizza Party on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays. The crew is young and dynamic, mainly Italians, but volunteers are all of different nationalities, from Spain and Australia to Russia and UK. Be aware of mosquitoes and local cats.

Reviewed By 794saraheMy family stayed in Borgo Dei Sagari for 5 days and we were blown away by this amazing place. The house was beautiful, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The staff were lovely so welcoming and on hand to give us lifts when we needed them to the station or the hostel. The village is stunning and the cafe in the square sells delicious pastries. If your visiting Rome don’t look at anywhere else book Borgo Dei Sagari.

Reviewed By George NThe room was very nice and had a beautiful view over the hills. The location was very convenient in the charming centre of Zagarolo. Was able to make myself a nice Italian breakfast. All in all, a very nice place to stay, and pleasantly cool when it was hot outside.

A welcoming and relaxing oasis, steps away from the hustle and bustle of Rome

The house had an unforgettable warm and welcoming feel to it and was spacious, cosy and both comfortably and stylishly decorated and furnished. The bed was very comfortable too. I particularly loved the view from the terrace as it opens up to Rome as well as the nearby hill-towns. Very magical at sunset!!! The B&B is perfectly located for easy and quick access to Rome and offers a great spot to explore the collection of small wine-producing towns and villages scattered around the area and try out the beautiful local food and wines!!! Catia and the rest of the family are welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts who greeted us with local treats and gave us amazing tips about local transport, sightseeing and best places to eat. We tried many of her suggestions and loved them all! Catia is more than happy to share her knowledge about places to visit in Rome and in the nearby villages. She responded promptly to all my inquiries and helped resolve any problems that arose. I definitely recommend this place!!!... and Catia is also an excellent cook!!!

B&B Maya is situated near Zagarolo railway station, in a new country villa with pool completely furnished, situated in a beautiful relaxing park. A place where discretion and courtesy is our pride. B&B Maya is the ideal site for every needs, in fact we are near the center of lot of tourist & cultural goals. Here anyone can find tranquillities, nature, art and culture. We have every kind of rooms and a flat completely furnished with cuisine, hall and two bathrooms.

Reviewed By Ale TUn'esperienza terribile durata pochi minuti, per fortuna. Eravamo intenzionati al servizio piscina. Al telefono ci viene specificato 6 euro a persona. Appena arrivati scopriamo l'impossibilità di pagare con carta e ci viene confermato il costo di 6 euro. Andiamo a ritirare i soldi (senza alcune scuse da parte della reception, terzo mondo!) e torniamo per scoprire che il costo non è 6 ma si aggiunge il costo di un foglio da firmare, per aderire ad una newsletter dell associazione. Spiegatemi quale associazione può fare lucro in questa maniera, bar, ristorante, piscina, cuffiette.. Tutto a nero evidentemente? Forse per quello niente carta? Aiutati dalla scortesia mostruosa della receptionist decidiamo di andare subito via. Per fortuna ad un km di distanza c'è una struttura che offre allo stesso prezzo un servizio di gran lunga migliore, personale educato e piscina decente. Cercate bene su google l'altro agriturismo prima di andare in questo covo di maleducazione e arretratezza. Spero che questi posti da terzo mondo spariscano il prima possibile, altro che Europa.
