Hotel le Clement V

In the heart of Belvès, medieval city, one of the « Plus Beaux Villages de France », this former grocery shop has been transformed into a charming hotel. Michel and Muriel Fischer’s goal was to give the whole a “home sweethome” intimate atmosphere. Nothing was left to chance between the personalized welcome, the daily exchanges with the couple about tips and sites to discover, the harmony of the antique furniture (family owned and/or gathered) combined with the quality of the materials and fabrics. The bedrooms are spacious (26m² the smallest to 60m² the largest), individual controlled air-conditioning and/or heating, WC are separate from the bathroom. Beauty and calm in the heart of all major sites, castles and bastides.

Lovely Countryside Hotel

Reviewed By Guillaume G

Situated just off the Place du Marché of a picturesque Périgord village. The couple who runs the hotel is friendly and helpful and speak good English. We stayed with our small dog and everyone was welcoming. Our room had a view on the countryside and was simple but perfectly comfortable and clean. Good breakfast too.

Dropped into Le Home restaurant for lunch and enjoyed a very good very French meal. One of us on plat du jour, the other on à la carte smoked salmon salad. Both generous portions and more importantly very well cooked and presented. We will be back!

Relax

Reviewed By JANICE B

We were in the final week of a three week touring holiday and needed somewhere to relax whilst seeing some of the Dordogne. We found this little gem where Veronique and her family are ready with a smile and a welcome. Being a couple Veronique suggested that we may like the studio by the house. Yes we did. It is a spacious studio with a sitting area and kitchen with table and chairs. A large bedroom and bathroom. On the terrace outside there is a jacuzzi and a couple of comfortable chairs in addition to a table and chairs for eating. The terrace looks out over their lake and makes a lovely setting for alfresco dining. You could use the barbeque to cook your meal. Veronique runs a spa which is on the main site a short drive away. There is where the swimming pools and other accommodation for larger groups is to be found. A good place for adults and children alike

The Wonderful Dordogne

Reviewed By K W

This holiday we stayed at our 3rd RCN campsite, having been 3 years to La Ferme du Latois and 1 to Collines de Castellane, this year it was time to try the Dordogne. The site is large with offerings of generous pitch sizes to varying ranges of accommodation. However the layout of the site groups pitches and accommodations into separate areas which creates a much more intimate environment. There are plenty of play areas, zip wire, table tennis, volley ball and playing field for sports. We stayed in a mobile home which was clean, well equipped with covered terrace, furniture and 2 sun loungers, we also had a large garden area. The mobiles are thoughtfully positioned among trees and hedges so you have plenty of privacy. The pool area was a highlight, more like a small water park, with 4 different slides and a crazy river with 4 separate pools and outdoor gym. There are also 2 fishing lakes on site which kept my dh and ds very happy. We used the terrace and restaurant a few times, service and food was very good, all the staff are lovely and helpful. The location of the site was perfect, surrounded by the beautiful Dordogne countryside, a short drive to the very pretty medieval town of Belves and nearby to many of the most must see sites in the Dordogne. We visited Sarlat, Castlenaud, Beynac, Roque - de- Gageac, Domme and of course the 16km canoe trip down the river which was very tiring. Such a wonderful part of France to explore. There is a large supermarket nearby in Siorac for all your shopping needs.

Terrace high over-looking the beautiful Dordogne river valley combined with excellent regional cuisine

Reviewed By Carl C

We were in Domme around sunset for some landscape photography of the Dordogne River valley and stopping for dinner seemed like a natural choice. For a Saturday night, the restaurants was busy but not full and we were able to have a table four at the edge of the terrace closest to the view. The menu was similar to those of other restaurants in the Sarlat/Dordogne area, but cooking in this case was exceptionally good. Combined with the view at sunset, this place is hard to beat for a dinner out. In fact, we went back again for dinner the next night (our last one in France) hoping for an even better sunset (and we were not disappointed either by Mother Nature or the chef). As others have mentioned, the service was friendly but a little too relaxed at time though the staff responded in a good-natured manner to a little prompting.

A welcoming host excellent cook and a mine of information about the region

Reviewed By JLenaghan

As visitors from Wales my wife and I have stayed a Chez Ilse La Mothe on several occasion over the years and have always received a warm welcome from our host Ilse Van Raemdonk, La Mothe is ideal for everything from a short B&B break to longer self catering rental of the house itself. It is an ideal location for children with a swimming pool and safe grounds, and of course it is excellent as a base to visit the historic villages of the Dordogne and Lascaux . Bergerac is just just over an hour’s drive away with the vineyards of the Perchament wine close by But the real highlight is Ilse herself, her cooking based on local recipes and produce accompanied by her excellent choice of wine. She is both a welcoming host and a mine of information about the region with advice on what to do , the markets to visit and places of interest to see. She is fluent in French and English and is always ready to provide guests with ideas on what to see and do in the area.

Si on est de passage parfait

Reviewed By novelita13

Reviewed By Frank E
