I am bit to death after staying here! Bed bugs for sure. Place smelled weird. You can get equally cheap places elsewhere. Not worth it. Not worth the hippie vibe for sure which is only so charming. Avoid

Excellent base before and after walking the QC track. Plenty of options from dorms to private rooms with bathroom. We went for the private room option which had a bathroom, clean sheets and towels. Access to the lounge/tv room/spa pool/well equipped kitchen.

Welcome to our friendly, relaxed, family owned hostel. The Spa pool’s bubbling hot, the fire’s roaring, it’s warm. Great music’s playing and the people are friendly & genuine. Free Hot Chocolate pudding & ice cream served every night of the year. Free all you can eat breakfast every morning, all year. Free wireless internet. Sky TV on the big screen. Free Bikes. Car Parking. Central location. Our sister hostel’s in Nelson, Tasman Bay Backpackers
Sequoia holds great memories for me after spending a few months here helping out almost 12 years ago. I re-visited under the new management and not much has changed - in a good way. They were very welcoming, hot tub was bubbly and warm and they are still serving the famous chocolate pudding.

Piwaka Lodge & Backpackers aims to be the Place You Feel Like Family A place to take a breath and enjoy the hospitality of a bygone time. A place offering luxury backpacker accommodation provided with a handful of awhi (love). Under new ownership since 20 December 2018 (formerly Alicante backpackers)
I had a great stay at Piwaka ( actually, 2 different stays). Lodge is great located, in the middle of Picton with everything handy. It has 2 kitchens, so plenty of space for your cookings. Breakfast is included, rooms are simple but comfortable and clean ( loved that the dorm rooms have a basin, really handy). And Nicci the owner is just amazing, helped me with tips and sorting my transfer to Queen Charlotte Track. Would definitely go back! Luciana

Tombstone Lodge and Backpackers offers a variety of warm rooms in a modern accommodation building catering for guests that require private rooms with en-suites, private rooms using shared bathrooms or bunk rooms. Take in the harbour views from your room, spa or games deck. Our separate communal building includes a fully equipped kitchen, indoor/outdoor dining, T.V. lounge, games area with a pool table, darts, table tennis, and gym. Each morning we provide a free breakfast which consists of toast and spreads along with freshly made hot cheese scones. Unlimited free WiFi in all rooms, complimentary bikes, free off-street parking and a free shuttle bus to ferries, trains and buses. With good local knowledge we also provide trip advice and can book your adventures - in some cases with discounted rates. Tombstone is just a 3 minute walk from the Bluebridge Ferry Terminal and around 8 minutes walk into the centre of town.
We have stayed here before, and always enjoyed the friendly reception. Lots of space to relax, well equipped kitchen, plenty of parking. This time we got a double room, and the bathroom was pretty small, but a nice balcony and outlook. Really handy to the ferry and easy to walk into town.

Picton's smallest hostel (with beds for just 16 people) is BIG on comfort. Our lovingly renovated historic villa is an easy 10 minute stroll or 3 minute drive from the centre of town and there are walking tracks just outside our door. With shady decks, comfy chairs, bean bags, hammocks and sunny chill-out areas in lush gardens, either relax, play, learn or simply sit back & watch the amazing fire and glow shows at night. Small and cosy with all beds fully made up (no bunks), we provide every comfort for your stay including organic fruit, herb & veggie garden, breakfast, juggling toys, workshops in a variety of circus and spinning skills (poi, hoop etc) unlimited wi-fi, bikes, log fire, quality book exchange, musical instruments, barbecue, well equipped kitchen with a huge array of herbs & spices, information/advice/bookings on local activities AND an atmosphere that can't be beaten!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nicky's place in Picton! The Juggler's Rest is more like a homestay rather than a hostel! It's in a lovely homey house with Nicky as a warm host. We felt like it was a home away from home. We stayed here for my boyfriend's 30th birthday - it was great to be able to bake a cake in the well-stocked kitchen! Nicky was lovely and friendly, and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed our evening chats next to the fire place cooking baked potatoes! There is a great herb garden so you can pick a bunch of fresh herbs to cook with which was so nice! We will definitely stay here again if we are back in Picton! Thanks for having us! New Owners have redecorated and revamped this backpackers. Modern colours through out and nice modern rooms. Comfortable lounge and well equiped kitchen. Great deck for a drink in the sun. Great location, closest to the ferry and next to train station, 100 meters to the centre of town and accross the road to the foreshore.
If you've been traveling for a bit and staying at hostels, then you know the difference between the basic, dorm-style hostels and the family home-style hostels. The Fat Cod is a family home hostel and creates the feeling of home during your visit. The staff are lovely and if you leave without having a conversation with the owner, Rachel, then you've missed out on half the fun. The rules are simple, treat the place like your own home and it will be your home. It's not a party, go crazy hostel, nor would you want it to be. It has a second story patio that looks out onto the harbour, perfect for a morning cup of tea or to stretch with a beautiful scenery. There's a wood burning stove that is lit on chilly nights. The lounge area has a pool table and entertainment center for your relaxing needs. This is a great hostel for meeting other travelers with its relaxed environment and is a place like home while on your travels.
