A gem of a city easily reached by rail from Liverpool. Small yet packed to the rafters with history, culture and stylish cafe/bar culture. At its heart, the historic black-and-white timbered "rows" provide a shopping experience like no other place on the planet.

Set in the grade II-listed Victorian village school at Harthill and enjoying panoramic views out across the Cheshire countryside, Harthill Cookery School is a new venture from Master Chef of Great Britain Brian Mellor. You find here one week or weekend cookery courses for basic cooking skills such as baking, bread making, chocolate, cooking with fish or meat, teens cooking clubs. It is a vibrant centre for professionals and public to indulge their passion for food.
Bought a server course as a Christmas present by my wife and we attended at the end of February. A full course of 16 people all playing with knives, charcoal, gas, naked flames and chocolate. What could happen? Well the food was fabulous abs the tune rolled by so fast it was brilliant. Who knew that sumptuous chocolate desserts could be done on the bbq? Or roast pork loin with crispy crackling? Risotto bbq? Let alone really thin crispy pizza too make the wood fitted pizza lovers jealous. At head a great day and Brian e really helpful friendly approachable and made it feel very like a community event rather than a course of 16 strangers.

Took 5 12 year olds to paintball. It was arranged short notice and easy to do. Polite and professional to ensure the boys got into the correct slot and payment was easily done. Arrived and we were not disappointed. The boys were given all the equipment and a really good briefing. The staff were always on the course with them and available to advise with clear instructions. The venue is huge, lots of battle zones with different structures to use. Extremely well organized and a great afternoon, very good value for money. Definitely recommend it for others, as it also has a low impact version for younger kids. Perfect for parties

The Antiques Shop, located at street level, within the Rows of Chester. Established in 1989. Owned and run by the same Antiques Dealer, for nearly 30 years, selling genuine British Antique and Vintage items. The shop building is a late 13th century great medieval stone town house, circa 1290-1300. Although the facade is imitation 17th century, within the building there are substantial remains of the medieval town house. 38-42 Watergate Street is one of the most interesting buildings in Chester. Rarely has the medieval fabric of a building survived so intact as in the upper levels, and rarely has a building been so thoroughly investigated.
I went in this little shop looking for an early antique map of Cheshire. The owner was really helpful and knowledgeable. There were several to choose from and I left with a particularly nice example. I was nearly tempted to buy an exceptional piece of vintage leather luggage but I was spent up. This shop is a real treasure trove of interesting antiques, Being local I will definitely be back before Christmas.

Forget Tatton Park, forget Lyme Park, forget Delamere Forest itself... This place blows them all out of the water in terms of sheer beauty! I have honestly never seen gardens like these in my life. A veritable burst of colour, they are almost too striking to put into words. Everything is just perfect, from the pond laced with gorgeous dragonflies, to the cool sculptor trail (we loved the giant spider!), and of course, the truly stunning Japanese Garden. When one thinks of a traditional 'English country garden,' this should spring to mind. The array of flowers is simply enchanting. The fact that they are such a hidden gem makes them even more charming. We visited on a lovely hot Sunday afternoon, and bumped into only about five other people during our two hours of wandering around. It's the perfect place to relax, reflect and admire the true beauty of nature. I came away feeling totally refreshed and relaxed! It was the perfect experience, and the perfect day. I would recommend this glorious place one thousand times over, and I already can't wait for my next visit.

Always a good atmosphere with good staff and good choice of drinks. Good Covid measures in place. Highly recommended.
