The South West Coast Path National Trail is one of the top walks to be found anywhere in the world.Where else can you walk along 630 miles of such superb coastline? The heritage, wildlife, geology and scenery along the way are truly inspirational and every day walking it brings stunning new experiences.Whether you are looking for an afternoon stroll to take you to a beauty spot, or to embark on the challenge of hiking their entire route from Somerset's Minehead on the edge of Exmoor around to the shores of Poole Harbour in Dorset, or something in between, you’ve come to the right place.
I met friends for a walk. I was a first timer. I was staggered by the beauty and by the great state I found the place; clean and well cared for. Loved it.

An incredible woodland, reminding me of the rainforests of other countries where I have lived. This is so important to preserve these vital rare sites left in the United Kingdom, Thank you National Trust. I love the forestry management such as leaving the dead trees to rot improving the biodiversity, as opposed to what many places previously did remove rotting wood at the cost of the environment. It is brilliant that the National Trust is reintroducing previously extinct animals such as the European Beaver, please continue this work with many others (Bison, Wolf, Lynx etc.). Towards the end of the walk though you can see farm land which is a real shame. It is such a shame that (some)farmers have felt the need to destroy(along with all their environmental destroying techniques) what was there before them and benefited every organism and that farmers pretend they 'own' the land even though there is no physical process for this. The land is not owned by humans and we are a very small part of the organisms of the earth although unfortunately we know make up 99% of the biomass. We should learn from the Aboriginals. It would be nice if the National Trust took land back from the farmers and the wretched NFU and took the land back to its former glory.

An invigorating 1.3 mile climb on the South West Coast Path through mixed woodland, rich in wildlife and with magnificent views out across the Bristol Channel. The return route drops gently downhill along a Victorian drive built by the Luttrells of Dunster Castle. There is an optional adventurous detour for keen geologists if the tide is low.
Beautiful views and wonderful countryside, there are dozens of footpaths that lead upto and around North Hill from Culvercilff. The going is a little steep in places but manageable by taking rest at the numerous benches.

Easy, pretty flat walks to be had from a number of car parks from North Hill to Selworthy Beacon, all accessible from the road up from Minehead. Panoramic views across to south Wales and the north Somerset coast as well as inland and along the coast to the west (at Selworthy Beacon). There's also a small iron-age hill fort (Bury castle) to the SE of Selworthy Beacon. No toilets (that I noticed) or shops, etc.

We have visited Minehead regularly over the years for short breaks and always make a point of walking in Blenheim Gardens to see the lovely flower beds and trees . The gardens are a credit to the local council especially when resources are limited and also to the staff who obviously take great pride in their work and the resulting facility.
