This art gallery has free entry and is located in a gorgeous historic building beside another must see historic Court House building. It is easy to find, at the eastern end of Bairnsdale near the post office and across from the Coles carpark. The entry area to the gallery has recently been renovated and stocks some great small gifts for sale from local artists. The gallery hosts a range of exhibitions that change regularly so there is always something interesting to see.

Been stopping here for years to break the drive from Melbourne to Lakes/Orbost/Marlo. It’s changed a little over the years but still represents a great opportunity to stretch the legs and let the kids run around. Plenty of play equipment including the long yellow slide and flying fox. Shaded area for picnic lunch.

Mitchell river walk

Well laid out walk and an easy track with great views of the Mitchell River. It traverses parklands, narrow bush tracks and bridges. It is an easy walk - bridge to bridge is 5 kms and well worth doing.
