60 kilometres south of Berlin sprawls the idyllic pastureland of the Spreewald. Here, in the middle of a biosphere reserve is the Spreewald-Destillerie founded in 2003 and operated by the “Spreewood Distillers” since 2016 in the picturesque village of Schlepzig. The distillery is the oldest whisky distillery in Brandenburg and Germany's first rye whisky distillery.
We really enjoyed this little distillery and will definitely recommend! I thought all four of the whiskeys were phenomenal. We also liked the liqueurs, especially the Oma’s Apfelkuchen (grandma’s apple cinnamon cake). The gin was also fantastic - very botanical and fresh. It was great being able to try things before we made our purchases. The service was excellent! (And they speak some English) We will definitely return to buy more bottles. I highly recommend a visit if you like whiskey, liqueurs, and gins.
At Studio Gosha you can learn pottery, drawing, silk, porcelain and glass painting with Gosha Nagashima. Trained in Japan at the Joshibi University, Gosha has been teaching people of all ages, including fine art academy students, for over thirty years. In a beautiful studio in the historical centre of Potsdam, you can also learn the traditional art of macrobiotic Japanese cooking.
