Port Royal Farmers Market

We love this farmer’s market. Compared to ones I have visited in California, Seattle, Washington DC, this is but a tiny slice of the volume of vendors in the bigger cities. Nevertheless, the quality and variety of goods sold here is quite incredible. Prepared foods that you can eat on the spot include lo mein, potstickers, bbq, paella, brick oven pizza, crab in many forms, fresh oysters, soups, and sandwiches. Of course produce varies throughout the seasons, but with coastal South Carolina’s mild winters, many fruits and vegetables make early appearances. The first crop of local strawberries were already available on 2/8/2020, along with green onions, brussels sprouts, rainbow colored carrots, and more. Other products featured were hearth baked breads, sweet rolls, pies, quick breads, fresh ravioli and pasta, milk, eggs, cheese, meats, flowers, plants, honey, jams, and fresh shrimp. A raptor rescue group participates every Saturday and they bring a great variety of birds of prey. They are incredibly knowledgeable. To be able to see these creatures up close is truly an exhilarating experience. We are blessed to have these wonderful farmers, bakers, fishermen, and other vendors provide their goods and services to locals and visitors alike.

Bluffton Farmers Market

This is a Thursday only event that hosts anything from local farmers selling fresh, produce, fruits, honey, baked goods as well as local restaurants selling samples from their store offerings. The setting is Old Town Bluffton with multiple old turn of the century homes from the historical society. It is a wonderful afternoon outing held from2pm to 7pm throught the summer season and only on Thursday's.

Bluffton is the coolest town, even though the long-time residents feel it's a different town than what they grew up in. But what town hasn't undergone change like that? And if you're that cool of a place, more people want to share in it. The Market is really great, with lots of vendors offering sublime treats, from the Georgia boys and their exquisite meats and eggs and etc, to the freshest produce that comes from nearby farms, to the to-die-for Paella husband and wife team and their saffron-infused bomba rice-based creations, to the Sprouts Momma's unbelievable bread and cookies and other treats, and on and on. And the guy who plays awesome finger style guitar is an added treat. Go there for a super lunch, then shop and drop some bucks on these wonderful folks who take such pride in their efforts and area.

Wanting to try my hand as a flea market vendor, I signed up for the day at Everything Under the Sun. Though my daily accounting broke even, the staff was wonderful to work; offering me more than their end off the deal, and mingling with other vendors proved to be priceless. This Flea Market houses many new resale and specialty booths.
