Tourists hardly know this wild, still nearly unexplored landscape, and you will be particularly impressed of it. Lake Eyasi is a mildly alkaline lake stretching for about 50 km (31 miles) to the southwest. To the northeast, as far as your eyes can see, the horizon is dominated by the impressive Crater Highlands, to the north the plains of the Serengeti. This area is inhabited by small groups of bushmen – the Hadza and Watindiga. who live in groups hunting with bow and arrows and gathering roots, tubers and wild fruits much as humankind lived in the Stone Age.Over 100 years ago, when the stronger Masai tribes moved into the Ngorongoro and Serengeti, the tribes made the area around Lake Eyasi their home. Another interesting tribe in the area is the Datoga. These are the last remaining tribes of bushmen in East Africa. Since we are in contact with these natives since many years, they permit to accompany us and show us their daily life and hunting methods

HADZABE In the morning clients will join the Hadzabe and interact with them, and learn so many stuff like how to make fire by using two dry sticks, the way which has been used for thousands of years. The Bushmen will teach them how to use their bow and arrows, collecting some tubers, roots, and fruits with the women or join the men on hunting. Hunting is done in the morning; clients will follow the hunters behind and see how the hunting is done. The honey gathering is part of it, but depending on the season as the honey gathering is done in the rainy season. DATOGA Once they are done with the Hadzabe Bushmen, they will join the other tribe called Datoga, who resemble the Maasai in culture. These people are also a blacksmith, as they make weapons such as arrowheads and knives which they trade with the Bushmen. Tourists can see how they make all those stuff (arrowheads, spears, knives, bracelets, etc), also how they grind maize with stones, how they melt bras, copper or aluminum.

Zanzibar is amazing. The blend of cultural and historic vibes creates an almost romantic atmosphere. watching how the women dress and go about their day tending to their children, husband and relatives was a delight. I even bought a hijab for myself! The museums we visited went back to several decades, and although disintegrating, were of unprecedented beauty. The aquatic beaches were a wonder. So clean. So blue. Ohhh so blue. Scuba diving gave us the opportunity to literally swim with the fishes. Sunbathing under the sun with the signature Zanzibar breeze was spellbinding. Northern masailand offers experiences that are singular and personalized. Thank you Henry for my dream vacay!
This 2 days safari to lake Eyasi is ideal for cultural tour lovers and after doing your wildlife tours. This tour gives you the chance to interact with the hadza community for hunting and cultural exchange. These are hunters and gatherers for honey and insect in the bush. Lake Eyasi is a seasonal shallow endorheic salt lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley at the base of the Serengeti Plateau, just south of the Serengeti National Park and immediately southwest of the Ngorongoro Crater in the Crater Highlands of Tanzania. The lake is elongated, orientated southwest to northeast, and lies in the Eyasi-Wembere branch of the Great Rift Valley. During the dry season the lake may dry up almost entirely, especially in drier years, so that Datooga herders and Hadza foragers will cross the lake on foot, but in El Niño years it may flood its banks and attract hippopotamus from the Serengeti. It is a seasonal stop for migrating flamingos.

Clean, friendly, to die for view, amazing food, beautiful swimming pool and a very accomodating staff. Will definitely be back...
The Hadza bushmen are the last remaining group of san/bushmen (nomadic hunter-gatherer people) in Tanzania. All other such groups are in southern Africa. The Hadza probably only number around 1300 people, but only 300 or so people still follow a traditional hunter-gatherer lifestyle. They speak in the distinctive click-based language which they share with their distant southern cousins. But they are considered to be completely isolated and not genetically connected to any other group. A small minoroity still keep to their original ways and you can join them as they go hunting or forage for plants to eat. Yes this intersection between tourism and a way of life is not completely natural. But it does allow them to earn some money to supplement their traditional way of life in the 21st century.

The tour will further take you to the Serengeti National Park, into the heart of wild Africa, a massive wilderness of 14500 square km, where everyday brings a new landscape and a new adventure. You will visit the Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania's most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a shallow but huge soda lake, at the foot of the Great Rift Valley's western escarpment. The tour also includes a visit to Lake Eyasi a salt lake situated between the Rift Valley's Eyasi escarpment and the Kidero Mountains. We used Kikafu tour & travel for our climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the last of November of 2019. When making reservations for the trip of a lifetime, a year in the planning, one hopes that the outfitter you settle on won't let you down. I have to say that the Kikafu team were outstanding. Our guides were the best. They were focused on our safety first as well as our success. I would have to say that without their focus and professionalism, some of our team may not have made the summit. The hotel in Moshi was clean, comfortable, safe and the food was good. Kikafu Tour & Travel gets my highest recommendation! They enabled the most amazing trip of a lifetime!

Our 6-day Safari to specifically include the Tarangire National Park, the bushmen of Lake Eyasi, Olduvai Gorge and Museum, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. This tour has been designed to include the historic Olduvai human footprints dating back nearly 2 million years. Serengeti is one of the most famous parks in the world and the ultimate destination for game drives or witnessing the astounding, annual Great Migration. Boundless plains punctuated with spiky acacia trees, Serengeti kopjes, hippo and crocodile-laden rivers, and a landscape home to the Big Five (lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalo, and elephants) with more than 475 bird species–it’s no wonder the Serengeti precedes its reputation as a wildlife haven. Finally the magical Ngorongoro Crater with its own lion prides and rhinos completes a safari of a lifetime.

Trip Date: Aug 2019 Africa and the Serengeti have long been on my friend and I's bucket list. We were so fortunate to have found Alex's Baba Kilimanjaro Tour Group. This was our first time dealing directly with a company in Africa (and not via a third-party travel agency). After we paid the deposit, we seemed a bit uncertain if anyone was going to pick us up at the airport at all! All that anxiety went out of the window when we saw Alex, the owner-operator, smiling and holding up a big sign at the airport, and welcomed us to his comfortable Toyota Land Cruiser. In the next 7-8 days, we traveled with Alex in his Land Cruiser, as a private tour for just us two. He has a keen pair of eyes and can spot animals miles away. He led us to see many animals, including elephants, lions, leopards, African buffalos, giraffes, etc. His English was excellent, we had no problem communicating with him at all. He even has a great sense of humor and told us a lot of interesting stories about the local culture and animals. Most importantly, we saw the crown jewel of the Safari, which is the Great Migration of the wildebeest and zebras. It took a lot of patience and experience on Alex's part, but we finally saw it. Its magnificance can only be appreciated in person. Given this is a national park and complete wilderness, he cared a lot about our safety and told us all kinds of safety precautions. We felt super safe with Alex around. Through these 7-8 day stay with Alex, both my friend and I formed a strong bond with Alex, and we remained friends until today. Note: My trip took place before COVID so no masks was required. From my recent conversation with Alex, he has prepared all the sanitation and personal protection equipment for all his employees and the customers.
